Hey guys.I want to discuss some suicide methods i thought about:

* Jumping from a ferry/Cruise ship in november or december. I have done some research about this and people in the business say it´s more or less a certain Death, especially if no one sees you jump but even when people do see it. Drowning seems to suck ass, but I´m more concerned about a certain Death than a painless one. I want there to be no margin for error and the good thing about this is that I cannot chicken out once I´ve made the jump. I´ve read that it is pretty Quick in very Cold water, and I´m aiming for november or december, in the Baltic sea where it would be like 1 degree over zero. What do you guys Think about this idea?

* My secondary ideas involves things such as: Buying nembutal and consuming it, Methadone overdose or SN. I´m very sceptical about overdoses though, they seem to fail very often and might end up leaving me in an even worse state than Before. There is also the problem of getting sectioned.

* I have thought about dehydrating myself, just stop eating and drinking. It seems really brutal and drawn out though, not sure I could go through with it. I could also be found in a cometose state and brought back ect.

What do you guys Think? I´m really set on the Cruise ship idea, I Think it will work and that´s the main Point.

Do you die of hypothermia? Or drowning? If people saw and save you in time, it will fail too

Cruise ship ctb happens usually a few times a year. I have a half-romantic fantasy of it with a partner, jumping together when we're out to sea. No balls for it though, so it will be poison/od for my method. I want Fentanyl, ideally. Seems nice, just slip away quietly, all cozy in bed.
Other users will be along shortly to explain why your other methods may not work.

I´m thinking about the Cruise ship ctb, but I´m scared i won´t have the balls to jump in. I guess I would drown after a short while.

Don´t Think there will be any sharks. I would do this in the Baltic sea. It will be really Cold though, like 1-2 degrees above freezing Point.

I used to plan a jump from a ferry in the open sea, at night when no crew/other passengers see me, and drunk. It was a nice idea but now I'd be interested in some other methods.

I imagine it's a good method if you're not seen and if you don't mind drowning.

Seems like a painful way to die, so it's not for me.

There must be videos of people jumping, from the security cameras.

Deaths in cruise ships are very common. Sometimes people fall because there's a lot of turbulence. Many commit suicide that way too. Usually people either die on impact (depending on how high the cruise is), drown/suffer from hypothermia, or they get dragged down to the turbines and suffer blunt trauma. It's very lethal either way. Even if you managed to not die immideately, you'd probably die real quick in open water.

If it is the indian ocean, you may very well die from being eaten by sharks or other creatures

There was a post a while back from a forum member who attempted to overdose and drown in warm water by swimming off the shore. Didn't work and sounded like a harrowing experience. Granted what you're describing is more likely to succeed, but I can't help but wonder... why not hanging? It's cheap and widely available and not really painful if you get the hang of it beforehand. Hate to be that guy plugging their favorite method instead of doing a good response to your question, but here I am

It could work, but of course, with all methods there is a risk of intervention or failure or both. With that said, first off you must find an area on the ship where it is less likely patrolled and also finding a perfect time to do so (like being in bad weather or far enough to the baltic sea (in your example) then be able to do the deed. If jumping, then having weights may help in being more difficult to rescue if life guards and other ship crew try to save you.

How would you prevent yourself from waking up from a hanging attempt?

Do you Think my ferry idea could be done in the summer? I really want to CTB real soon, but I´m scared I will be rescued more easily in the summer

People will notice you've fallen overboard and force you back into the boat, willing or not.

Summertime the ferries are full of people and a lot will be outside enjoying the view. At night you could slip over the side if there isn't anyone outside but depending on the water temp and your ability to swim it might be hours at the very least before your reach your end. Very cold water you might have 15 minutes minimum of pain and cold before hypothermia sets in. Warm water like Florida, you can stay in the water indefinitely without freezing as long as you stay afloat.

SI tends to get worse during an attempt over time, so if it takes hours you might actually be waving, yelling, or signalling for help by that point. But at that point survival is out of your hands, so maybe SI wouldn't do anything harmful but cause panic.

If someone sees you go over they'll search and if the water is calm they'll probably find you and rescue you. So if you get spotted falling over, I'd just go along with the rescue and try something else later.

It's not that hard to swim in deep water. In the extremely unlikely chance you don't get caught and dragged back on board, you'd probably survive for days before dying of hunger. (Or possibly thirst if the water isn't drinkable)

Depends on your courage. If sober and got no balls, it won't work.
If you're observant and there's no do-gooders on the deck at night + some alcohol in your system it should work.

If you jump you will die. Even if somebody sees you jumping; rescuing you will be almost impossible.

But it's a terrible way to go I think. The panic you will feel when jumping and hitting the water will fill you with terror. You will regret it.

Personally I would prefer to ctb by fentanyl patches, but they are hard to get, so I will end up with partial suspension hanging I guess.

There are always crew who are awake. You'll get caught even if you jump at night.

I can't believe that people are taking thus suicide idea seriously.

Your first options fine. Sounds painful, but it will likely work if executed correctly.

If you want to make sure it is a certain death, take some medication that will result in organ failure within 24 hours before you jump (and probably eat afterwards). That way if you are taken out of the water, and they try to save you, you will not survive anyway. You should also make sure this medication is very obscure or they will be able to recognize it and treat you.

If it is at night and there aren't any cameras or crew with a direct line of sight to you, nobody will know. Most large ferries or cruise ships don't have much visual coverage and the crew at night is just busy navigating, so I'd say you'd have an excellent chance not to be seen.

Key points:
Night time, preferably around midnight - 2am with no moonlight

Not on an camera or seen by anyone when you jump. Find a corner or balcony where it'll be private

Open ocean or rough seas, if it's flat water they'll be able to find you quickly. Rough seas and you'll be almost impossible to spot, especially by a large ship that can't slow down or go back easily.

Biggest ship with the longest run between ports that you can do, preferably in the open ocean and multiple hour journey so the search area is impossibly large

Water temps below 65F / 18C

When I was considering going over the side of a ferry, I had planned to be wearing a day-pack with a few kilos of rocks/sand in it. Superglue/duct tape the pack's buckle so I couldn't get it loose even in the throes of SI. By the time they could stop the ferry and lower a boat for a rescue, I'd be a couple hundred feet under water. On the local, sheltered-water ro/ro ferries, it's fairly easy to find somewhere with a low rail and few people and to go over the side too quickly for anyone to intervene.

In the end I realized not leaving a body would create more problems for my family than it would solve for me, so I shelved that method, but it still has a lot of appeal.

Buddy, this sounds scary as hell. You are mixing jumping, drowning and possibly being sliced by the cruise turbines. I would never be able to ctb like this. Respect your opinion and choice, but for sure there are easier options.

Technically you'll still be leaving a body. incidents where people drown like that eventually the backpack will separate or your body will begin to break up and they'll find some remains along the shoreline at some point. It might be months afterwards though.

It might even be really quick on the order of a few days if you begin to bloat from decomposition and the extra gas makes your body buoyant. It's pretty common with a lot of sea animals when they die. The entire "exploding whale" phenomenon is caused by that, but sea lions, seals, and other critters are known for it too.
