I know it's not funny but holy shit that made me laugh when I thought about it, but it's only because I imagined myself doing it and how it would look. Some people have actually died this way though, this is why I truly believe anyone can find a way to ctb somehow.

I imagined hitting myself in the heart hard with one and falling to the ground, or hitting myself in the head with it, I laughed so hard. Not to take away from the tragedy of it but you have to admit that it's pretty unorthodox.

I can't imagine dying this way.... I know 100% my hand would slow down just before I hit myself by instinct. Those who have managed to die this way were truly determined to go though it, damn

Wow....I am tyriying to figure out how that would work since presumably unconsciousness would occur before death. Okay, I just googled it - death usually occurs due to bleeding out and not "brain damage" as I envisioned it. It turns out that the majority of the people who attempt it are not trying to CTB, but rather are trying to "relieve pressure" inside their head.

I can't even slap myself that hard much less start swinging for the fences with the good old 16 oz Craftsman :shy:.

Now this would take some major guts and dedication but people die from even the smallest of falls so it seems unreliable but definitely could work. Maybe I'm thinking too far into this but in a theoretical situation could someone with no preservation instinct whatsoever even be able to hit themselves with enough force to reach a fatal state of blunt force trauma?

It wouldn't be the first time, surprisingly:

"In nineteenth-century Vienna an old man of seventy drove seven three-inch nails into the top of his head with a heavy black-smith's hammer. (...) In March 1971 a Belfast businessman killed himself by boring nine holes in his head with a power drill." — Al Alvarez, The Savage God, A Study of Suicide
