Suicide attempts percentage

It says statistically that 1 in 20 people die from attempts. What is considered an "attempt" idiots overdosing on ibuprofen, jumping from a second floor, and not tying a noose correctly? What I'm saying is if you're doing it right it should be 100%...? Is sn guaranteed death? Is hanging guaranteed if noose is secure?

There must be a lot of people who try methods that will never be successful. Finishing off thier antidepressants and Sleeping pills or cutting without aiming or arteries etc. I was going to try the od myself until I looked it up. I would expect the percentage to be a lot higher for people who have done their research on a site like this. Not having a go at people who have tried these methods and I wouldn't call them cries for help it is what TV tells us after all. It's is just being uninformed.

i feel if someone wants to commit suicide they should research and prepare for atleast one year.

I'm pretty sure that it's 1 in 20 including all the half assed attempts and cries for help. But then again, a lot of unsuccessful attempts are not reported and some of the successful ones are ruled out as accidents etc. These statistics can't be that accurate...

I think that if you're using a method that actually works, plan everything right and prepare mentally you should be fine.

Thats true. It's like when you hit bottom is when you are most determined. Shoelaces, sheets, etc.

There is no method that is 100 percent successful.to my knowledge guns and jumping if efficient ly utilized are about 98 percent successful .even then. Possibility exists u survive

I'll admit though if there was a shot gun right next to me and I was at my most desperate I would probably do it.

I had one when I hung myself loaded and chambered with a slug. I should have used that instead of partial suspension I was found not conscious or breathing. My roommate forgot her ipad... ugh

I think these stats include aborted attempts. It's the follow through that is insanely difficult.

Ie. consciously standing up from partial suspension, standing on a bridge but not jumping, slicing ones wrists/taking pills then calling for help etc.
