Hey,
Sorry guys for the subject, but it could also be interesting for you.

@NewOrder, Thanks for pointing up this question
So, I was wondering if we can have some stats about that.
Is there a link between hormones and suicidal thoughts?

My first day is extremely physically painful (I've even fainted from it on occasion), but I can still handle that better than I handle emotion pain.

I'm pretty sure I used to have PMDD. I say "used to" because my hormones have shifted over the years and I don't seem to have the same level of response to my cycles. Yeah, I'm talking about walking around a dark basement sobbing, screaming, falling to the floor. Despite what some of y'all might say about women, these were not common behaviors for me. Haha. I experienced sudden, intense feelings of hopelessness and suicidal ideation.

I didn't make the correlation initially. After a few months, I realized I returned to feeling fairly normal as soon as my cycle was done (or began? I can't remember). It was difficult vacillating between polar opposite emotions every month. Now? I'm just hopeless all of the time.

I'm always suicidal, however during my cycle even more so. But I believe this is more to do with my pain as oppose to hormones. Lately the pain has been unbearable, I can barely move 'cause it hurts, and have to stick to 1 position. I suspect I have Endometriosis. When I was younger though the only time I was ever happy and felt motivated was during my period, which was always nice, but surprising. So I looked this up, and apparently it could be because of a peak in estrogen hormones during and before the menstrual cycle.

I often say everything I am going through is down to that red shit, but I was going through all this hell before that red shit came to me, (as in I went years without it, due to PCOS) and its only 3 months after my mental breakdown that it became regular. My red shit is really damned heavy, and horrid, so I don't think that helps my mood at all. I do get worse week leading up to it for sure though

The pain sounds awful ... I am sorry to hear it. I agree that male doctors and research industry mainly masculine doesn't help to take care of this pain that they can't understand/feel themselves. It is changing slowly...

Yes, it can also be correlated with the pain. I also feel better the first day on my menstruation. My breast pain just stops suddenly and I can 'breath' again.

I'm a little confused by the wording here. I experience a big shift in my emotions; cry at everything including happy things as well as becoming extremely depressed/lethargic. My thoughts can become very negative, feeling like I am worthless and everything feels more hopeless. I definitely think about suicide more intently.

But that's during PMS. Once my period actually starts, it will start to go away and I feel a bit more functional. I have become pretty aware of it finally so I realize the pattern enough to talk myself down or take time to myself If I feel I'm snapping at people because of being more reactive/irritable.

I never paid attention to that. I didn't even have the idea that the hormones could influence it. I should keep a closer look on that, it's interesting.

For the last two years i've noticed a pattern of my suicidal thoughts and ability to manage them always worsens in the days just before my period.

Same here ... in addition to physical pain, all negative thoughts in the whole world attack me ..it's awful :(
