Suicid attempt gone wrong

what is your (or someone you know) worst suicide attempt what method why it failed and what happened after medical problems recovery etc.

Tried to hang. Just got a pressure in my head like my veins and eyeballs were going to explode. Loosened the noose in panic cos it was painful.

Tried to poison with SN. Took my metoclopramide and ranitidine along with a major tranquilliser to knock me out and prepared the solution. Was knocked out before I could drink it. Woke up with a pounding heart wondering what happened and saw now useless solution on my dresser.

No medical problems. Just feeling like a failure for not getting it done.

you were lucky most suicide attempts fail and a lot of them leave permanent damage i'm glad you escaped with no lasting effects that's why suicide should be a last resort but when necessary people should choose method carefully

I ran in front of a speeding truck... yeah I know terrible method but I was desperate... at least the driver knows he didn't kill me and caused only reversible damage. Will not do this again. I was 3 weeks in hospital where my broken spine and leg were operated. Then 2 weeks in a psychiatric hospital. I can now walk with crutches though only short distances. Next time hopefully soon will try hanging

I do feel sorry for the younger ones who feel under more pressure in a lot of ways

did you fail at full suspension hanging or partial?

Full suspension hanging was rough. Compressed my windpipe. Those rasping breaths will haunt me forever. Didn't kick the stool away and managed to abort. Was not good.

When I was 15 I took everything in the medicine cabinet and puked it all up a few hours later. Parents didn't even know.

Two weeks ago Celexa and Adderall with a very strong OTC sleep sedative. Only reason it did not work was because I said good bye to a friend while my breathing was getting very hard and labored and I started to really shake and she called 911. I was comatose. CPR and defibrillator was used. So damn close. They said if they would have been later I would be dead or brain dead. Either works for me.

I'm surprised that worked tbh. I assumed medications like that wouldn't have such a strong effect even when ODing.

Why did it fail?

I used a belt wedged in a door (closed between the door and the doorframe) and didn't realize the door hadn't fully latched into place. I lost consciousness and my weight pushed the door open.
