Does anyone else find that they feel more relaxed when reading through a methods list or such? Maybe it's just me and my being screwed up in the head, but I feel like the more I read and the more methods I learn about, the better I can breathe and the more calm I can make myself. I really hope I'm not the only one out there.

I have my method now and the tools I need to get the job done and I am calmer now than I have been in a very long time. Its a comfort to know that I can go tomorrow if I choose to. So you are definitely not alone in feeling this way.

No you're not the only one. I also find cemeteries very relaxing, knowing I'll be a resident in one sooner than later.

I've suffered enough.

Having all I need to reliably kill myself is a HUGE relief. I would even go so far as to say it has restored my ability to experience joy (but unfortunately not meaning, purpose, or fulfillment).

It also has removed my worries about the future. I dont worry about being forced to endure more shitty meaningless suffering, as I can now deliver myself from it any time I please.

It is relaxing because it shows a way out of misery.

Without an exit plan, I'd go crazy right now. I'll be feeling safer once I have everything I need to execute that plan.

Absolutely relate to this. And Kringle's Curse.. I feel the same about cemeteries. Panicking about dying is horrible.. I experienced that 10 years ago during a spell of post natal depression. But embracing it and making it my choice has freed me from fear. Now when I want to be calm I look up methods and think about what my plan will be. It feels like freedom.

I have a very visual mind. My brain interprets my situation as a dank dark room. I literately stomped my on the ground one day after constantly feeling dread at living and said to myself 'ENOUGH'. When I did that a door frame appeared in the room but no door. Devising my plan for exit then put a locked door in the frame. I think when I get all the components together I will imagine a key, and I know it will be up to me to use the key and walk through the door. That's how I am imagining my last moments

The idea of suicide is a very comforting thought to many. Nietzsche had a similar quote along those lines.

Its pretty common that people who figure out when, where, and how seem to be more relaxed and look like they have less anxiety. Psychs know this BTW...

I definitely feel comforted and less anxious knowing "how" and that it can be whenever...

That makes complete sense. As we become more informed, we are empowered. And feeling empowered is relaxing.
