It varies.... It's also very excruciating.

But humans can last up to 14 days without liquid, and anywhere from 6 months to over a year without food.

Checking in again to shut this down, because it's an extremely stupid idea. Don't take this personally though - I've been where you are so I understand your desire to die. This just isn't the way. Not only is it extremely unlikely that you'll be able to resist food for that long, it is also an extremely unnecesary way to drag your death out when there are ways to do it far, far faster. Check the resources megathread to find those methods. To answe your question, this source: https://reducing-suffering.org/how-painful-is-death-from-starvation-or-dehydration/ states that it will take about three weeks for a healthy person to die of starvation.

Going without food can take up a long time to kill someone. Check out the Minnesotta Starvation Trials. Also, forget the myths created by the author of that study on cholesterol, pure bullshit.

Don't expect to last more than two weeks without liquids, though. I dunno how it could feel, but I've heard it feels like an unending hangover; the whole dehydration thing.

Is it wise to follow a story from an author who makes this statement tho??

I just don't know what else to do, I am thinking about getting N but I really don't think I am going to be able to drink it, I struggle to swallow a tablet now after the amount I took when I tried before

I think a human would die at around 60 - 70 days without food.

Please don't do this to yourself. Pretty much every other method is a better choice. Which methods have you tried so far?

You go by your weight. The bigger you are, the longer it takes. After 3 or 4 day(I think), your body goes into starvation mode, and starts eating away at your calories, after that, it moves in to your fat, then from there it's all downhill.
I just don't know what else to do, I am thinking about getting N but I really don't think I am going to be able to drink it, I struggle to swallow a tablet now after the amount I took when I tried before
I will say this is not the way to go. As others have said, you won't be able to fight off the hunger. When that dehydration kicks in, the urge to not drink water will be overwhelming. I can bet you a dollar, you won't win that round verses water.

OD on tablets, been in hospital twice so not trying that again. Hanging seems impossible tried this so many times. Thinking of N but I really don't think I will be able to take it, I couldn't even take a paracemol now without heaving

What about SN? Even though N is more reliable you could give SN a try, because the chances that it leads to permanent damage are really low apparently. Also, it might be easier to ingest it

Just happened, a homeless guy died of starvation in the city I live in.
can you starve yourself to death?
you can also attempt holding your breathe and asfixiating yourself,

or just put your head inside a bucket full of water, hold your breathe and then inhale water and drown in a bucket... clean method also

Rule of 3:
3 weeks without food
3 days without water
3 minutes without air

This is an insanely painful way to die and your SI will almost certainly prevent it from happening unless your will power is made of titanium, in which case less painful methods could be used.

Good luck friend

Have you looked into SN? The lethal dose do SN aid rather small so perhaps that's easier.

I considered this. May try this again this summer. I feel like it's the willpower that is incredibly hard to overcome. If you can really distract yourself, you won't have much urge to eat. Its difficult as there are other people always with food anywhere you look. The pain towards the end of this method... Idk enough about. I managed a week and a half. I just felt the lack of energy and wanting to constantly sleep really.

This is an extremely and utterly devastating way to die, why suffer more than you have to? if your whole life ( as mine is ) is just suffering then why add onto that?

Yes, but it still painful. Lips and tongue dry out and crack. Nose lining dry out and bleed.. still not a painless method.

A lot of people are arguing that this would be a bad choice to commit suicide, which I respect, but here's my take.
Both death by dehydration and starvation are timely, but within that time it would allow you to really think over your decision and figure out if suicide is the right choice for you. You cannot act impulsively when choosing this method.
Speaking from personal experience, last time I attempted I chose dry fasting. I made it about a week until I drank some water again. I was very serious about dying, but there must've been something there that told me to stop. I don't know what that was, but I stopped. If I was more serious about it, I probably would've died. There are side effects to this method, but they aren't as bad as you'd think. Also, if you at some point choose to live, you have that option to quit + it won't seriously damage your health unlike other failed suicide attempts. I'm also going to add that I don't think this method would work very well if you're already overweight because death would take a lot longer. hope this helps you a bit.

40 days if youre taking in just liquids, but could be sooner due to the health complications of starvation. Could take longer if youre fat. I would advice against it tho, at first you loose your appetite and its kinda okay but then it starts to get pretty painful in your very last moments.

4 - 7 days with no water regardless of how much you eat. You cant live without water

It's going to be a long and painful process. It's also risky because your SI might kick in and you'd eat, making this method highly prone to failure. You might think that you're determined but for such an extended period of time, it is definitely likely that your SI would kick in at some point. There are better ways to go about CTB.

Yeah, I stopped drinking for 3 days because I was too depressed to even bring a cup to my lips, and it didnt work, I slipped into a kind of shock with heart palpitations and dizziness, and they assigned a nurse to me to force water on me.Till then all I drank was a bit of tap water placed on my tongue, and in 72 hours I couldnt walk anymore so that was fast. But painful
