Undoubtedly- there will be predators on a site like this. Think anyone should be careful about meeting in person.

The part about Joe Nihill is curious- that he supposedly asked for the site to be closed in a note left after his suicide... Maybe he had a bad experience. Just seems a bit strange for someone obviously pro choice. Maybe he had specific concerns though.

So, I may come off as insensitive. Please excuse me; the holidays have me very very suicidal. The article doesn't mention this site, so other sites are probably similar to this one. This site does a good job of reminding members to not meet up or give out personal information. If a person decides to meet up with someone, then the site can't be responsible for that. The part about Joe Nihill really upset me. So, you are able to get the courage to end your life, probably with help from the site, but then tell your family in a note to close the site down? I believe these sites have actually kept people alive because we're all so informed of all the ways suicide can go wrong. If Nihill left the note because he is traumatized about meeting up with that man, then that is not the site's fault. There are clear guidelines for being safe and not meeting up with people online. Also, if it is true that his parents would have wanted to know he was suicidal to provide support, then he is ignoring all of us who are pretty fucking vocal about suicidal ideation and no one seems to give a fuck.

We get told cautionary tales all the time, not to trust anyone you meet online. Thankfully the victim was able to walk away alive in this incident.

I'm glad he had to go to such extremes to get sentenced. Means we're still somewhat safe if we just keep things online. I have always maintained that meeting up with people is risky! Partnering is such a bad idea

This is why I've been a little skeptical about the partner threads. I understand not wanting to go alone, I think most of us don't really want to spend our last moments lonely. But I'd more so prefer to not spend my last moments with a person like that either, I'd rather be alone then.

Having a ctb partner you don't know could leave you as a tortured prisoner somewhere. There is no guarantee they would follow through on your wishes.

I think this site can be a valuable place to exchange pro-choice related information or even seek support, but the "partners" threads are just wrong. Too much risk, too tiny chance for anything good, absolutely not worth it. I hope this page stays, but the partners threads should disappear.
