Sonoran Desert: Death by Heat?

I live in the Sonoran Desert (California section). So, since it's almost July which is pretty damn hot here, I'm wondering if walking into the desert would be enough to kill me. My town is pretty rural, if I walked for 30 minutes up the road I'd be in sandy dunes where nobody would find my body. It gets around 110 F during the day but it feels a bit too easy to just lie down in the dunes and wait for the heat to kill me. Would this actually work? I plan on wearing a coat so that I don't get sunburns and just overheat. In addition, I plan to take sleeping pills so that I will spend the full day lying in the heat. Does this sound like it would work? Should I try walking a few miles so that I am out of energy when I fall asleep? Any suggestions?

Death by heat is basically death by dehydration. It hurts a lot and takes a long time.

I live next door to you in the Sonoran desert of southeast Arizona. Not a good way to go. It will take longer than you think and as stated above, it will hurt. And it WILL take a long time.

Edit: I think he is hoping for death by heat stroke. If that is the case, it's going to be very unpleasant. I suggest, and that's all it is...advice, find another method.

They will be wearing a coat to avoid that. Still sounds like a slow & hellish way to go even if they are dressed to avoid sunburn.

A lot of people die here in Arizona every year because people come on vacation to hike or whatever and end up underestimating just how much water you need here, even when in the shade. Just breathing depletes your reserves of water. Straight up Arrakis here, I swear. We just need the damn spice worms. But even if wearing a jacket or other clothing to protect from sunburns it is still a hellish way to go.
Edit: I had an afterthought. I have never built a thumper. I will and take it out in the desert. Will report on my findings about whether or not we have some drug-producing graboids out here

People die during heat waves in Chicago too...due to lack of AC. I think antipsychotics that disturb temperature regulation are often involved as well.

That very well could be about the antipsychotics. I've never been anywhere outside of Arizona other than California and Hawaii. So I can't speak for other places. I would never have thought Chicago. That's crazy. Down here everyone has AC or Swamp cooling. And here's a fun fact about Arizona: it is illegal to deny someone a glass of water at any time. If someone shows up on your front door asking for water you have to give them some. Some weird state law. But understandable why it's on the books.

Apparently it's more common to die from heat waves in the Midwest because there actually are some folks without AC in these areas further north.

I remember being in Chicago once in July and it was 103. I was like WTF?
