Some men in life disrespect women. Perhaps it's not something you're used to, but the objectification of women is nothing new and spans all areas of life.
There's a good reason why pornography is almost exclusively aimed at the male customer base. Men are more responsive to visual stimuli for sexual arousal while women respond more than their male counterparts to other sensory stimuli, such as scent.
True equality for women has a not inconsiderable way to come. Women continue to face relentless discrimination in the workplace, with the the greatest barrier being identified as existing in HR. Women are less likely to be considered for senior positions, promotions, are paid less than men and continue to be subjected to gender based harassment and racism, often presenting itself in more nuanced ways like fewer opportunities for mother's, rigid gender norms and maternity bias.
Without pornography and the income it generates, video technology would never have been affordable for the general public. The same applies to the internet. They would have been cost prohibited military tools. That kind of material doesn't feature women because women don't pay for such materials. The reason why they are so disrespectful is a simple matter of desensitisation, which applies equally to the websites you found so objectionable. Firstly, pornography is not intended to be a depiction of a genuine, loving relationship. It aims to cater to fantasies. There's only a limited amount of vanilla, man and woman tastefully shot in the missionary position. In the same way that a drug user requires increasing amounts to achieve the same outcome, so explicit content inevitably grows more and more extreme, catering to the whole gamit of obscure fetishes and taboos.
Hence images that might seem repugnant to those unfamiliar with the territory, the same content barely raises eyebrows among the habitual aficionado. The vast majority of viewers are quite capable of differentiating between the theatrics on screen and real life. If everyone who watched adult entertainment became sex crazed perverts, roaming the streets at night dressed in a raincoat or harassing "bored housewives"and "girls gone wild", more people would be living in prison cells than houses.
I used to do some investigative journalism and spent a significant amount of time perusing certain gore sites aswell as blog del narco , researching for a piece about the Mexican cartel wars. All the gore sites heavily featured adverts for pornography, which is an immediate indication of what to expect, aswell as the audience demographic. It'sade VERY clear that it's
adult entertainment intended for persons over the age of 18 only. Like this site, that's a restriction that is impossible to police.
I think passing judgement on everyone who participates in that community is little different to those who judge this site and us. There are upstanding pillars of society who have turned out to be heinous, bloodthirsty murderers.
Here in the UK, we have quite the reputation for our dark humour. It's unlikely that a good deal of it would be permitted across the pond. But questionable taste in comedy does not a deviant make.
Judge for yourself.
