I don't think it's usually recommended. The working mechanism is different so they probably won't do much. Although people still throw up even with prescription AE. People also have done it without AEs, supposedly successfully.
^Specifically, meto speeds up the transit through your stomach into the lower parts of the digestive tract, which is where stuff actually gets absorbed.
It does have an antiemetic effect which helps, but most people will vomit even with meto, and most who vomit will still succeed unless they receive medical attention.
