I see that the SN has become popular in the last 2 years or so as all the documented deaths with SN have started in 2018 . Can I ask why is it that this happened? Was it not mentioned in the PPH in the versions before 2018 or how come it is increasing in popularity just now? How come is not SA "the poor mans nembuta"l ?Is it just because SN is so readily available?

Probably as you said, SN is more readily available and sites like this are more easy to find now. Also SN is pretty dirt cheap in comparison to N.

It wasn't until 2013 that wildlife services even started researching and investigating the use of sodium nitrite to control wild pig populations. I imagine exporting that logic and determining the effect upon humans would take a few years, given the relative dearth of intentional research of euthanasia drugs. SN (you wrote SA, but I assume you meant SN because of the title and what EI says) is what EI calls the "poor man's Nembutal" because it is not a sedative or hypnotic that lulls you to sleep like Nembutal. With N, you experience no uncomfortable symptoms and the drug's effect is very calming. With SN, you will feel the symptoms of hypoxia before you go unconscious (tachycardia, dizziness, headache, anxiety)

Perhaps it ties in with N being harder to obtain.
Although I haven't double checked my facts, SA sounds less peaceful, and seems to be a more volatile substance, eg risk of explosion. It may also be harder to obtain and may be subject to more controls. Also, it might represent a health hazard to people finding your body, especially if you had vomited.
A lot of this information on SA is available using the search function on this site, so it would be wise to learn how to use that effectively. The advanced search function is very useful.....

No, I actually meant SA. I know that some have called SN "Poor mans Nembutal " and my question was why did they call SN that and not SA as SA does the job better according to PPH. Maybe they reffer to the peacefulness of the method as I see SN beeing scored higher in PPH than SA even though the reliaility is lower.

Yes, well there are many reliable CTB methods, but the peacefulness is the accompanying part that is sought after....

SN is very effective, and is peaceful enough. Also, I won't get a police raid or scammed for buying it.

SA is more effective and cannot be cured. However, it's explosive if mishandled and it's toxic if you vomit or are autopsied. SN is slightly more peaceful and has zero long term health effects if you fail, atleast that we're currently aware of.

It's really just a matter of personal preference if you ask me. Most people here have chosen SN over other methods because they don't want to leave a mess, potentially hurt anyone, and it's more peaceful.

There are many, many other threads of this very exact subject. Read those. There is a search bar in the top right corner of the site.

Actually pesticides and fertilizers have been used in many countries to ctb for long and they are one of the most popular method in world (2. most popular if I remember it right). In developed countries the peacefull, fast acting ones have been only popular for ctb. Some
countries have banned the sale of some pesticides/fertilizers that are peacefull and fast to prevent people using it. The suicide rates just kept getting higher after the bans in those countries that banned them.

But I hope for the sake of mice and other unliked animals that we still have peacefull pesticides sold. :(
