Help Sn oxidizing in water?

Hello,
I had a question, so I've put my sn in water yesterday and I had something to do afterwards so my plan was kinda screwed. Is it possible to drink it today? Does anyone know if sodium nitrite turns into sodium nitrate in water?

I know someone who has put sn in a water bottle and tested it weeks later and it is still showing pretty strongly

This reaction happens very slowly. It wouldn't completely turn into nitrate in a day.
