Can anyone tell me more about sodium nitrite and how to get it. I've seen it mentioned a lot here on different posts and it sounds like a surefire method.

Sodium nitrite is an inorganic salt that can be either industrial grade or food grade (labeled as E250). For the SN method to work properly, a minimum purity of 95% is required. It is recommended to use food-grade sodium nitrite (E250), since by law it must have a minimum purity of 97%.
Death from sodium nitrite occurs due to hypoxia, which means the tissues don't receive enough oxygen. This happens because sodium nitrite converts hemoglobin (the protein responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood) into methemoglobin. Methemoglobin has a higher affinity for oxygen but cannot release it to the tissues. This is because the iron in the heme group is oxidized from the ferrous state (Fe²⁺) to the ferric state (Fe³⁺), preventing normal oxygen transport.
In short, if taken in large quantities, sodium nitrite can cause loss of consciousness within 15–20 minutes, as the brain doesn't get enough oxygen
