I had SN ordered a few months back. It came sealed in a bottle and I have not opened it yet, but I noticed most of the SN has hardened. I guess it is obvious the bottle isn't tightly sealed as I thought it would be, and it has been exposed to moisture. My question is, does that mean it is now useless? In retrospect, I should have placed it in a air tight container with desiccant gels. It wasn't easy getting it in where I live, it's a bummer.

From what I know, prolonged exposure to air results in it turning to sodium nitrate which is useless for ctb.

This confirms my worst fears. It's funny how I finally got the antiemetics, just to discover this happened. The trickery of life never stops.

Has it all gone bad? Only the top would have been exposed to air...so, the salt at the bottom might still be good.

Anyways, you should use it anyway..nitrate is pretty safe..if it has been oxidised, nothing would happen, you would be fine, nothing to lose

Almost all has hardened, except for a small amount in the center. I think you meant nothing will happen when you ingest the equivalent amount of sodium nitrate, as when you ingest sodium nitrite. Because sodium nitrate poisoning can kill too, just in much higher amounts, and a lot of pain.

Yes, the same way ordinary table salt can kill too...you need more nitrate to die than to die from table salt...So, why not give it a shot...if it's still nitrite, you would ctb, otherwise, you can just move on and try again...
