Anyone else from the UK? What's your excuse if you need one? I'm struggling to think of something to say to my parents. I don't live alone.

If in doubt - claim stupidity (SN is a corrosion inhibitor and inhibits microbial growth)

"Someone on whatsapp/facebook/twitter said it kills germs, so I got it to kill covid from metal surfaces, and it was super cheap so...."

I appreciate the humour, but I'm stressed. DAE have a solution?

I wish I could find a UK seller who would put something else in with the package of a similar size, and I could pretend I bought that.
My parents watch me closely, especially re packages. And they're always home. I can't just order two separate packages and trade. I was trying to think of a legit purpose for buying SN. They're not savvy and won't think of OD immediately at least, but it's such an odd purchase, I could see my mum looking it up.

No humour intended - this is a legit usage, some people use it to sterilise metal surfaces and prevent corrosion, I've even seen discussions where it's been used for cleaning straight razors (cut-throat) as a barbicide

Are you able to think up a usage (that's relevant to you) in regards with cleaning metal objects/surfaces?

Interesting. Not really. The most foolproof plan is pretending it's something else entirely, but that depends on how it comes packaged. As a packet it would be easier, i could maybe take the label off possibly. Supplements? But how bad does it smell? Can it be smelt through the plastic package? LW SN (out of stock atm) is in a tub with printed label. No good.

As a packet, I imagine it might look something like mine, but generally it looks like regular salt (but the crystals are a lot larger - like the citric acid that you get for cooking/descaling kettles - so you could claim it's that). It won't smell of anything, because that would mean air could get into it, which would spoil it.

Personally? I think a tub would be safest... even if it's a printed label, just apply a little heat using a hair-dryer or something (to warm up the glue), and the label should peel right off. You could then use a sharpie to write something else on it (but nothing food-related because you wouldn't want someone to open it).
