I was going to leave just a very quick note at hotel apologizing to the staff. I was thinking though that it might be better to leave the note to my parents at home, and then indicate in whatever I leave at the hotel "please see XX drawer/folder for my stuff" ... otherwise the police are probably going to end up reading my notes? What do you think? I can't just leave a note on my bed when I leave the house because then it would be obvious, but I don't want the police examining everything.

I fear that if I leave a note in an easy accessible place at home and leave to do it somewhere else my parents will start searching for me and possibly interrupt me, and they care a lot so they will search really thoroughly. Thought about hiding the note somewhere like in my art folders but what if they never find it cause they dont know what theyre looking for? I think its best to carry the written version on me. The digital one is saved on my laptop

That's true, so what I was thinking of was putting it in a discrete location at home and then carrying a short written note that says where stuff is.

So here was my experience with my son. I'm in the US.

He ctb in his apartment and left a note. The police took it to the medical examiner who read it to me over the phone in this really flat, almost bored, voice. It was horrible. I have a copy of the note, but they won't release the original until the case is closed, and it's still awaiting a toxicology report. I was told that would take three more months. He died in March.

The note had two sections on the same sheet of paper, one for his girlfriend and one for me, his mom. Because her section came first, they will only release the original to her. She is going to cut it in half and give me my part, but that feels horrible too. It's his last words, and I don't like that the paper is being cut, even though that's irrational. It also causes terrible pain that the last thing my son ever told me is in an impersonal file somewhere. Again, it's not rational, but my grief makes everything surreal and oversized.

I'm not sure if every city operates the same way, but to be safe I'd suggest that you try to prevent the note from getting into official channels. Also, if you're writing to more than one person I might put each individual section on a separate sheet of paper.

Police are going to examine everything anyways. I left my note in plain site during a previous attempt and they took the note from my mother after she found it. They will search through everything in the hotel room and more than likely in your room too.

This is really bizarre to me. What are they trying to accomplish here?

I have no idea. Even though I've had previous attempts and they saw the note. They kept telling my mother that my room was a crime scene. They also wanted to check my internet history as well, but I had reset my computer beforehand.

"Do the police have to get involved?
Because suicide is considered an unnatural death, the authorities are required to investigate. Suicide is not against the law, but given that there are cases where a homicide has been made to look like a suicide, the authorities will want to make certain that the suicide has not been staged to cover up foul play.
At the scene of the suicide the police may limit your access to the body—and to your home, if that's where the suicide took place—until their initial investigation is complete. They may also take some of your loved one's personal belongings, including any notes or messages that they may have left. If the police take personal possessions, be sure to ask for an inventory so you can keep track of what should be returned to you. You have the right to get all of these possessions back once the investigation is complete.
As part of the investigation, the police will want to question you. You should cooperate with them, but you have every right to ask them to conduct their investigation quickly and sensitively.
Remember that neither you nor your loved one has committed a crime."

Oh god they are going to search through my room?? :( so much to clean up ...
Even better reason to make sure I clear all of my stuff from my devices.

If they do this sort of thing, how has A not been found? I mean aren't they going to realize people are importing Nembutal??? What if someone doesn't log out of their email.

Interesting. Thanks for posting this. I don't know what happened to the note. They probably gave it the hospital staff to put it with my medical records. The police never came to question me, thankfully.

They only searched my room because that's where I made my attempt. I don't know if they will still check your room if you do it somewhere else, but it's always a possibility.

I'm guessing that they will end up looking at my credit card history. I had made a transfer to someone to purchase bitcoin to buy N. Their email is on there so I hope it doesn't look like that person was somehow involved in my death.

Hopefully they won't figure it out (that you used Bitcoin to purchase the N).

I think it might be obvious since I made a $1000 transfer in the months leading up to my death and my family won't be able to identify what else I possibly could have spent that money on ... anyway, even if they do investigate that person they would figure out that they just harmlessly transferred me bitcoins I guess

Well, I don't think they could charge that person with anything if they do figure it out.

Yes they conduct an investigation. When I jumped off a bridge and was in intesive care for 5 days they took my phone to go through it (and it was horrible cause my phone was full of pics of girls standing on rocks with a brick in their arms, pics of my self harm etc. and they took all my things away. They seized the note and never gave it back so I needed to rewrite it.

I'm leaving my note on my person but I don't intend to be interrupted. I could care less what my wife thinks.

As someone who has had an experience with what happens after an attempt, do you have any suggestions in terms of things to double check, get rid of, anything you would have done?

Throw away all the drugs, weird porn and log out all your accounts? Should be enough. And make it a habit to keep your browser in private mode all the time. If you're browsing on your mobile device this is a pretty foolproof way of not giving out many clues - battery dies, session goes poof.
