My office is a work truck. I work at a railroad facility but have some autonomy and do heavy equipment inspections in a large lot off the main terminal. Regularly I stop for over an hour at a time doing billing or conference calls in my truck. What if I just took my ME and SN, threw the containers in the dumpster, left no note of any sort, and parked off in the distance? Maybe could be an ambiguous death and my sister could get life insurance. I'm not sure how obvious SN looks.

I guess you can try mix it with regular salt and eat it with food like if you didn't know it's poison but regular salt. Maybe there is a chance to get something from insurance company, but I don't know that much about it.

Not encouraging you to kill yourself. But read the fine print of your life insurance policy. Most policies only have a one-year or two-year exclusion for suicide.

What does one tear or two year exclusion for suicide mean? I thought they just didn't pay for suicide no matter what. This policy would be at almost 6 years.

If you are interrupted, you will likely have a full recovery, but you will you be able to manage if you lose your job?

It means that the insurance company can refuse payout only if the policyholder dies by suicide within the first year or within the first two years of having the policy. If you've had the policy for six years, and the exclusionary period for suicide is two years, then they will have to pay the beneficiary even if it was an obvious suicide.

I don't know where you are located, but most states in the US, by law, have a maximum 2-year exclusion period for suicide. Check the exclusions on your policy.

Huh that's interesting. I had no idea that there is a possibility the policy would payout. I need to re read my policy.

Yeah, I always heard that they never pay out in case of suicide...until I looked into getting life insurance and learned otherwise. Just search "life insurance suicide exclusion" or something along those lines, and that'll give you a basic idea. Then check your individual policy documents.

I hope your policy states what you are hoping for.

SN apparently tends to leave a distinct blue colouration on the skin.
So they would likely know SN were involved.
It's probably not feasible to make it seem as though the SN was ingested "accidentally" / without your knowledge, unless you can come up with some approach for that that nobody has thought of yet.....

Death from SN would not look natural, and if an autopsy was done it would be very obviously suicide.

Hi @squirtsoda. Wondering if you were able to check your insurance policy?

No haven't gotten around to it yet, I'm not that concerned about it. Insurance paying out to my next of kin would just be a "nice to have".
