I live in the United States and in a relatively red area/state and in terms of firearms the sky is the limit essentially. I even have mild autism and I still wouldn't be prohibited to buy practically any gun possible which is really the only benefit to living here. I essentially lost my job due to the coronavirus (I worked at a university doing food prep work, the university is shutdown for 3-4 weeks and just recently informed me that they cut my position and some other coworkers of mine to make up for the loss, at least I think that's the case.) But I am not ctb'ing over that, I've been wanting to do this for years but figured this is the best time to do it honestly. I have $2,000 in my savings and am trying to decide between a double barrel shotgun or a triple barrel shotgun. The triple barrel is around $1500 but would have as close to an instant 100% success rate as I can think of, but might be overkill and a waste of money since I plan on travelling to ctb to either Yellowstone national park or the black hills in South Dakota and would need extra money to fund that trip, $500 leftover isn't going to cut it when you include gas and lodging etc. At the same time I just feel like a double barrel isn't completely 100% or even 98%. even though it's around $800-1000 and would leave me extra money for travel and to ctb where I would like to. I don't know which is the better option, double barrel and ctb in yellowstone/blackhills or triple barrel and ctb close to home. What do you think?

I'm certainly no expert but I don't think you would even need a double. So long as you don't flench much and just stay steady.
Also wanted to mention I am sorry you are going through all of this, I'll keep you in my prayers. ...

I have a Rem 870 20 ga I've been thinking to use to ctb. Its not much but certainly enough to get the job done.

A short, single barrel 12 guage is ideal for me,and more than ample to do the trick. Can get one cheap too.

I have a double barrel 20 guage and the two triggers and width of the side by side barrels, makes it seem awkward and unwieldy for ctb.

I know I'm not an expert but a shotgun is a shotgun. I don't think it would matter whether it is double or single because your head is still going to lose a lot of blood anyway. The most important thing when shooting is for it to be at the side of your head.

Best of luck though.

Triple is definitely overkill, save the extra money for your trip.
