How likely is it to fail shooting?

I always deemed the shotgun method as the most guaranteed and painless method, now im unsure.. (I wont be able to get my hands on this method anyway but im curious and hopeful)

Anyone know stories about shotgun survivors?
Or which factors influence the success rate of this method?

It's the angle of the shotgun. If too vertical you risk just blowing your face off.

If tilted back towards the rear of your mouth there's no surviving that when your brains blow out.

Gory but extremely effective, wish I could access a shotgun in the UK.

Know what you are doing and there's no chance of failure unless the gun is faulty.

Actually, there is. There have been cases of people who've survived shooting themselves in the head and the consequences are horrifying in most cases. While highly effective, there is nearly always a chance of you surviving any type of ctb method, even if done carefully.

What are the statistics of surviving from a direct shot to the brain stem? And if someone did survive that, what gun were they using? I feel like if you follow directions to the t, there's hardly room for survival.

Totally agree. A correctly positioned shotgun is simply unsurvivable.

I probably should have specified that I was referring to failed in cases in which a non-faulty gun was used but something happened during the process leading towards it missing the brainstem. I think the success rate was 90% when it came to that particular method (I think I got it from lostallhope).

Sorry about any miscommunication. I wrote that post after getting back from my exam (that I definitely failed) and I didn't really get that much slee last night.

Surviving a shotgun blast to the face has to be something that only could befall a truly cursed individual.

Use buckshot and make sure you hit the brainstem and you won't survive. Birdshot won't work and a slug is far more survivable as it's a single projectile. In essence just make sure you have enough ordinance to blow your head apart and the right position.

If you can find them though, HESH slugs are the best, but also very expensive. HESH stands for High Explosive Squash Head. Basically as soon as the slug impacts a hard surface it explodes, violently. Mine are powerful enough to leave a crater the size of a soccerball in organic matter. I planned to use a Mossberg Shockwave and one of these to blow my head apart. I had the shotgun positioned behind my head and pushed against the base of my skull. SI fucked it though.

Ah I see. Sorry if I came off too strong. I don't actually know the statistics on that, but I trust the words of lost all hope.its also a very known fact that all people are different, so perhaps brain stem positioning may differ among others? I'd take the advice of ADeadBunny to minimize that risk of surviving.

can't even imagine how horrible that would be. Sounds almost laughable it would be so terrible. you actually get a gun, have the guts to go thru with it, shoot in your head and then survive. next level horrendousness. what would someone's words be after that, once you hopefully get loaded up with a few hydrocodones. "welp, I guess partial hanging it is"

If you've seen the Ronnie McNut suicide video like many others, the outcome is as you would think

You're not going to survive if you know how to do it! That's my plan too

Sadly, lots of people have blown half their head off and survived. Do it right or don't do it at all, I'd say.

Ironically, for some people, it was the blowing half their head off that inspired them to want to live again... Wtf... Human psychology will never cease to amaze me, but more power to them! 💪
