Thank you.Thank you for posting that. I just read it. It is very excellent. "...life is a dream".
Haha, yes. Apparently he loved his poodle dog more then any human.I will read the essay, as well as the two in the replies, thank you for this.
Did you know thst Schopenhauer gave part of what he had to his poodle after he died? I think that's quite interesting. I'm not sure if poodle is the right word, but it's Caniche in french^^
Thank you.
You are welcome.
Here are 2 more short essays by schopenhauer.
Enjoy.
Yes, it certainly makes me wonder at times if this is all a test, and I can definitely relate to it feeling like a prison planet.Brilliant stuff. From "On the sufferings of the world":
"The pleasure in this world, it has been said, outweighs the pain; or, at any rate, there is an
even balance between the two. If the reader wishes to see shortly whether this statement is
true, let him compare the respective feelings of two animals, one of which is engaged in
eating the other."
He goes on to say that this world may be a prison where we are being punished for transgressions in another time and place. I speculated below that we may have been sent here to be tested, not so different. A fellow got mad at me for saying that. :)
Fantastic! Thanks. I'm currently working on an essay about suicide. This a perfect reference for me.Here is a short essay by schopenhauer on suicide for anyone who is interested.
