Discussion Scaremongering suicide pain

People try to scaremonger suicide and talk about how every method will be excruciatingly painful. Are you guys afraid of the pain and do you believe every method is painful?

I am not scared of the pain. 1 hour of pain compared to 19 years of pain is nothing. I am not afraid to die, i'm afraid of failing and having to deal with those consequences.

I believe every method has an element of pain or discomfort. Am I scared of it? Yeah, a little bit but I think it's almost normal to be a little scared of it, but I know it'll be worth it in the long run. As you said, the suffering of a few moments is worth it to end the suffering of many years.

No, the pain isn't the main issue for me. I'm scared of failing and what would happen if I succeeded. I'm not religious, but I can't know what is there after death. I don't want to go to even a worse place.

What an awful argument for people to latch onto. "Oh shucks, guess I'm stuck here then!" It doesnt promote hope or self-efficacy or even survival, just fear and helplessness.

Id be afraid of the pain if I was going to like set myself on fire or drive off a cliff, but that's why I'm not going to do these things. That's why I'm putting thought into this.

No. The pain of SN will be fine in comparison to the pain of living with the brain and body damage SSRIs have caused. I'm just afraid of failing and being put in a hospital.

I used to be brave and want to bring it on as soon as possible but after some failed attempts I became fearful and a bit of a coward.

I think a lot of people on this site are either afraid of it going wrong and ending up worse or ending up in a psych ward. However I can't speak for anyone other than myself
For me I don't fear suicide, it's the thought of hurting others rather myself that gets me everytime
