Let's discuss Sarah Perry's brilliant and incisive "Every Cradle is a Grave: Rethinking the Ethics of Birth and Suicide"

A brief discussion is in this thread: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/threads/can-anyone-point-me-towards-positive-suicide-resources.27672

indeed. her calm, methodical, and aloof dismantling of how we attach value and meaning to life through illusions and distortion was eye opening.

i view birth, and death, newly. thanks to @AnnaJaspers for showing us this resource.

I've read it and it makes a lot of good points like "mental illness" having nothing to do with suicide and that people will convince themselves of anything if their immediate bubble is full of positivity. The suffering grounded in reality is often ignored by people that you'd call optimists because it's convenient for them.

Some parts of the book/writing style I didn't like though but that's probably because I found some of the words and ideas to be too complex.

The whole entire book mentions a lot of what I've been thinking about suicide and what quality of life is and the many reasons of why one would commit suicide. I think anyone is considering suicide regardless of reason can benefit from reading it.
Although I think everyone in the world should read it
