I've been doing some self harm recently but it's never really been quite… well, enough, you know? I've been trying to cut, and I can do well enough, but I always tend to hesitate a bit. Of course, that means that the cuts aren't very deep, and they don't bleed very much. I was wondering if there's some way to make it easier. I can tolerate pain, so that's not really the issue. I think it's just my nerves.

What kind of blade are you using? blade choice makes a pretty big difference. Also the people that don't hesitate when they SH are the type to be in and out of psych wards and hospitals, id probably continue doing that.

it's some kind of utility knife, pretty sharp

(That's somewhat reassuring)

tbh its probably not as sharp as you think it is. SH is best done with extremely sharp blades, usually razor blades, because you're going to be holding back weather you realize you are or not.

SH leaves a massive terrible mess on your skin.

Have you tried elastic bands or similar?

Nope, just cutting. I like the marks it gives me.
