I'm not sure exactly. There are online lawyer pages that give basic details for questions like that. I think when it is available, they require a psychiatric evaluation after a certain amount of time to declare you no longer suffer from the condition. Muzzleloader firearms are under different laws in the U.S.A. Muzzleloader laws vary by state, but they aren't considered firearms under federal law. Again, check online for lawyer pages or governmental postings for your state.

Best is to get help from an attorney. It is a process that usually goes thru the probate courts of your county, if in the US, which gets relayed to the state and up to the feds database

Yes a black powder weapon, muzzle loaded ware classified differently by the atf. Their regs are very specific

Should I get a job first, learn to drive, and wait a few months? Got out in late august. Then go thru attorney.

I don't know what to tell you about the rest. If you have all of those to do, you have a steep road ahead.

I just know that the attorney will charge you a fee and they aren't cheap.
It isn't like a trial, it is a petition that needs filing, and also more than likely your medical record from the mental health doctors that have watched you and treated you for months, saying you are recovered and fit to possess a firearm. There is usually a wait period before this can be done as well. This is where having a good attorney who knows gun right laws is helpful. Even then a judge could always deny you.

Each state is different.

Like the other poster said, certain types of " things" aren't classified as a firearm and therefore can be bought and owned, even with your status.

To understand that you would want to look more into the atf and what is classified a firearm. These things aren't as easy to prepare and use, but still work (think of more revolutionary/civil war or pirate pistols).

The same happened to me. I was told I could petition to regain my rights but I don't remember the steps. You can try contacting the facility you were held at and requesting the info. I have thought about trying but I have zero energy and I doubt I will prevail so it seems like a date of effort. I am a pessimist though.

My mother has the info, as my guardian. I can get it from her.
