I don't know, every time I go to Northern Ireland, everything becomes much more affordable. I didn't see there lots of homeless people like in Dublin and the rent is affordable, not 1,5k-2k for an apartment like here. Any more ideas?
Yeah but I think it is more affordable because NI is much poorer and I think we just lead a poorer way of life and have a bleaker outlook compared to the republic. It's hard to explain it. Partly because of the troubles. We do have a lot of homeless in my city. Mostly men who are alcoholics/drug addicts. I also think we are probably the least invested in part of the U.K.
Also in my city the unemployment rate is close to 8% double the NI average
I noticed Belfast is very empty and not overcrowded. Where are all the people? Newry seemed okay to me. And yes, I agree, NI is a very poor part comparing to the other parts of UK. I guess UK doesn't want to invest in NI because this way they will improve the economy of Ireland, not their country.
Is it? Was this recently? I haven't been for a few years but it was crowded then. Yeah you're right plus I think we are just overlooked and forgotten about. I have not been down to Dublin but it must be crowded down there.
The last few months it is very empty. Everything is closed right now. Pubs were very busy before. Honestly, I cannot imagine what will be next. For some people it is the business of all their life. It is like losing everything in an instance.
No, it was not recently. But every time I visited Belfast it was very calm. Dublin is usually crowded. Traffic jams, lots of people in peak hours. I don't even say about Friday evenings.
