When I ctb I'll be in a hotel, I have 2 items to give to someone. The only things I'm leaving. Not a relative. (I'm in the US; California).
If I leave a phone number and address (same county), would the cops take said items (small) to that person if I left a note and requested? Would they call?

I need to give somebody something very important (sentimental) but I don't see them and it would be obvious if I tried; I can't mail because their apartment sucks and shit gets stolen all the time. Thanks. I hope I'm making sense insomnia still kicking my ass

Edit: to clarify I'm wondering if the police would do me the favor of delivering or at least calling a person if I left their info.

I really doubt it to be honest. They might want to seize it as evidence plus visit those people and make them problems. Maybe you send it to a local UPS or USPS? Or just ask someone you trust to do a favor for you.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I don't want to tangle anybody up.
I'll look into the UPS thing.

Can you hide it somewhere they can access it and send them a delayed email telling them where to find it?

Or send it with a signature required by that person only.

Or try to send with signature, I don't remember, but when delivery guy has to give it right into hands and ask to sign, not just throw it in front of their door.

Not a bad idea. I can't think of anywhere but that isn't a bad idea.

I think I'll just leave it with the rest of my old stuff with the info and hope people have some respect? Idk. Thanks y'all

Oooooh I never thought of forced signatures. That's a really good idea!
Yeah the second anything is put on the doorstep of their apartment it would be gone (teenagers). I'll look into that (:

Ask housekeeping in hotel to do it for you for a good tip.

"signature required by that person only" = restricted certified mail. I've sent a lot of stuff certified, and it rarely goes to the addressee. I've only needed mail placed in The Right Person's Hands a single time.

Requesting a return receipt will probably light a fire under the postal service to not botch the job, even knowing you don't ever intend to see the receipt.

I doubt it. The police will most likely confiscate all items as evidence. I believe you will need a will to have any request handled.

I wouldn't count on the cop with a golden heart. Best to make arrangements.

Hello, there is always an option like delivery with a signature, but you have to be sure they will be at home.
Cops is never a good idea if only you know these cops personally, plus I think nobody would be pleased to see cops behind the doorstep.
The idea would be to rent a small storage and give access to these people. But is a bit expensive. And if you have a key, you may hide a key somewhere, in a letter you can say where a key can be found.
I will just bury some stuff in the ground where it cannot be found.
