Hi, last week I got my SN from the mail. But there was no indicator of its purity in either the provider's site or on the bottle. I've checked the EC number on the bottle and it's just NaNO2 's EC I guess. Can I even assess purity from the EC number?

Is there a way for me to know purity without opening the lid? Because it may be hard for me to get another one.
On the bottle it says "For Analytical and Research&Development use". That may mean it is 'analytical grade' SN but I'm not sure.

Nititt

Also would it matter if it wasn't >95%, and I drank all 100grams of it?

You don't want to rely on assuming or guessing when it comes to ctb.

You can use aquarium test strips to determine the purity of the SN you've got.: https://sanctioned-suicide.net/thre...-an-aquarium-testing-kit-rough-version.18188/

If you get a reading of around 10 mg/L then your SN is pure. Else, say if your reading is around 6 mg/L then it's 60% SN, etc.

Opening your SN is not a problem as it is stable against air/water/moderate temperature.

And the answer to your last question is a big NO. Do the aquarium strip test. Firstly, you never know if the seller is legit so what if there's no SN at all? Secondly, even if the SN content is as low as 35-40%, you're taking in a much higher dose than necessary and will only make you throw up, so will the extra amount of water to dissolve so much salt.

Hope this helps. Will ctb by SN as well.

Thank you so much.
In the pph it said it oxidizes by absorbing the moisture from the air; that's why I was worried about opening it before I get to use it.
I'm going to go to a hotel in two weeks or so. Maybe I should do the test 1-2 days before I go to the hotel? I think I'll do that.

DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT drink 100g of it. You will almost certainly fail, or could experience great pain.

Oxidizing takes months. If you open it up for a couple minutes and seal it up tight once your done, and store it in a dry place, it won't harm the SN at all.

Test it a couple days before. Do both the aquarium and the blood test. That's what I'm doing.

Your best bet would be to contact your supplier and ask for a MSDS. I see on the bottom right hand corner there is something about a MSDS. Without it, i wouldn't advise taking it, even with the tests. Even if your blood turns chocolate-brown and passes the aquarium tests, there is no certainty that it is a high enough purity to induce death.

Not to negate @HelensNepenthe as I know a post was created about msds for SN. (Which i think should be deleted to avoid confusion for the following reason) . I just want to say that not one of the ctb attempts prior to this post required an msds nor was one ever discussed as being required for SN to be successful.
My 2 cents

It's always suggested when being provided chemicals that you look at the MSDS. Not all forms of SN sold online are rated at >98% purity. When in doubt, rely on the chemical producer to tell you what you bought. I bring this up after reading a post from a notable forum member who made a comment that their blood test wasn't making their blood turn into a chocolate color. Indicating that there isn't enough purity in the SN to induce methemoglobinemia.

Reliable lab vendors won't BS you and sell you a product that isn't high in purity. That isn't in their remote interest to do so.

I didn't think it would be that painful. I just thought swallowing it would be very hard. Thank you.
I'm checking to see if there are affordable NO2 test kits in my area right now.

@HelensNepenthe
Oh, they provided an email for MSDS and TDS requests. I didn't even notice it because I didn't know what msds was. But wouldn't it be suspicious if I asked them about an MSDS? I bought it for personal use so they may be a bit skeptical about my intent. Wouldn't I need to lie if I contacted them? I'm not really good at lying.

I would just ask them for a MSDS sheet and i wouldn't think about making a lie. If they ask, just tell them you're looking into changing what your spruce wood looks like. Potassium nitrite and sodium nitrite have visual changes to wood. There's also some confirmation methodologies using these chemicals. It's kinda common enough to use as an excuse.

They would just e-mail you a PDF of the relevant MSDS. I don't see it as a particularly bothersome or suspicious request for you to make. Contact them via e-mail and just mention you forgot to ask for one earlier. Do not feel the need to go into further explanation.

I would suggest that if they hadn't heard much about this purpose before, they might be genuinely interested and try to start a conversation about it with the OP in order for them to learn more.

The API five in one test kits work well for this. Should cost around $20 from any pet store, and is available all over the world.

I did this. Emailed them without specifying anything. And they kindly responded with the MSDS without questioning any further. Now I know that it is ≥ 99% pure.
Thank you. Thanks to all of you.

Hopefully my plan will work out and not be a disaster.
