I was wondering where you were planning to CTB? Seems like doing it anywhere in a house is a bad idea, especially with a shotgun, unless you are a renter (and hate your landlord). I'm an owner so I actually need to care about property damage. I think my beneficiary will appreciate it if I don't destroy the house she will inherit. A hotel doesn't work since it will be heard and there is the risk of being "saved." A car doesn't work either unless it's a rental.

I was planning on using my back yard. It can't be seen from the street and neighbors can't see it from inside their homes. At this time of year fireworks are not uncommon so I suspect that a gunshot will be assumed to be fireworks since that's a vastly more likely source of such sound.

I plan on going to a national forest and going in very deep off trail

Camp for a few days, smoke a joint, then sign out

I plan on doing it in my bathroom. Will have a thick wooden door behind me so that will prevent the pellets from doing damage to the room.
As for being discovered by family, I don't really care. I am gone.
I cannot take the shotgun out of house because I will get caught. I am considering going to the rooftop but then again. it's the building rooftop and people come, sit and go even at late night.
Bathroom is ideal for me.

Ok, well sure there are plenty of forests there but chances are they're mainly on private land.

I've traveled across the US several times hitching & camping in Natl. parks and forests and this map is legit.
Plenty of forests in the midwest to be sure,....not so many official National Forests (except on the fringes).

Pretty cool, yeah. I've been to about 8 of those...can't remember exactly (used to party a lot), but yeah...those are what I'd consider to be as located on the fringes of the mid west, other than a couple of pockets.

Thanks for the memories. :)
No problem.

What state?

oops @oxymoron beat me to it
There are so many national forests here. Which state are you from?

NC, wanted to go to Uwharrie National forest and this is the address it sent me to: Uwharrie National Forest, 789 North Carolina 24, Troy, NC 27371. Turns out it's just a lake and like picnic area. I think Birkhead Mountains Wilderness is part of Uwharrie, so should I navigate there?

I just had a look at satellite images on google maps and morrow mountain state park looks like a huge wooded area. It's just south of the lake. Might be worth a look?

Edited to add a picture - looks like a damn nice place to go
