I see a lot of threads suggesting to pad the side of the neck to increase pressure on the cartoid artery, but I am wondering if anyone has knowledge about any attempts where someone padded the front of the windpipe/adams apple with a soft material to try to reduce pain?

Could this work or would it reduce the effectiveness of the method and increase risk of complications

I've tried a small diameter pipe lagging around most of the neck when trying both the night night method and partial. I can't say if it has caused it to not work because I can't get anything to work without it either, but it was more comfortable.

I've read that adding padding in front of the windpipe may make it worse. As it can help distribute the pressure from the rope in the windpipe, it will increase how much relative pressure goes in the windpipe. This may cause it to be blocked easier and cause the choking sensation - which ideally we want to avoid.
The padding above the carotid is not to only improving the blockage of the artery but also reduce the pressure in the windpipe, reducing the chocking.
I didn't experiment with this tho, its just my thoughts, take it with a little bit of salt.
