Discussion Question about drugs that make you feel (fake) happy

I have read a lot about drugs that release dopamine in an unusual way, like magic mushrooms or Marijuana.
Does anyone have experience in taking these or similar drugs?
If yes, is it worth the risk of being caught with it?
And why are they illegal in most countries anyway I've seen that they dont really make addictive anyway...
I mean Marijuana is literally used to stop side effects of cancer why is it illegal then? Because we dont know too much about drugs yet?
Like I would rather take drugs and be (fake) happy then have suicidal thoughts my whole life.

but like anything else it can be addictive and just like any other addiction it sucks.
i also wouldnt call high the same as fake happy

I had some experience with Marijuana, and while it wasn't bad, I have to admit that it did not magically make me happy, or really changed my mood in any noteworthy way whatsoever when I was depressed, so I wouldn't say it is all that impressive. I have a friend who becomes paranoid when he smokes weed and it gives him panic attacks, which is even worse. So I wouldn't really "recommend" it to anyone.
The issue of Marijuana legality is complex, and honestly I don't really think it should be illegal for adults, but oh well. I guess it is not studied enough yet.
Magic mushrooms are more risky, if you're not careful or just unlucky you can have a bad trip, hallucinate and even hurt yourself, or others, or destroy your belongings etc. So it's more obvious to me why they are illegal.

oh I see I didn't know that they could have effects like this... would it be better if I do it with someone else so we can take (somewhat) care of each other?

Hm I see... But unfortunately I see that it makes addictive, but if I don't find anything else I gonna give it a try

I know people do take psychedelics in groups to make it safer, but I personally have doubts about how much help can be expected from someone else who is also on drugs. Maybe having somewhat of a "designated driver" person that doesn't take anything and is just there to watch over you could help, but they will have to take a pretty high risk for you (legal issues, responsibility for your actions when you're high etc.).
