Help Private messaging Help

I'm new here so I don't know how the private messaging works here. Tried to contact admin, but my message won't send here cuz I'm either spamming or saying something inappropriate, which I'm not lol. So I'll just ask here.
Just today, I am now able to send private messages so I decided to test it. I sent someone a private message and noticed that my inbox is empty, usually when you send a message a trace of you sending a message will usually show up. Is this normal? Do they have to respond for our messages to be visible in the inbox?

You have to make a certain (secret) number of posts before pm will work.

If you can see the chat at the top next to the search bat, click on it. Then click on "Private Conversations" somewhere on the right.
