Wikipedia article on hanging says that about 11 lb (5 kg) of pressure is required to compress the carotid artery; 4.4 lb (2 kg) for the jugular veins;[8] and at least 15 kg (33 lb) for the airway.
Does that mean if 15 kg of pressure is provided and airways are obstrcuted it would also compress the carotid artery leading to quick unconsciousness, thus cancelling the pain associated with suffocation?
