I feel sad with the way things are nowadays with social media like Instagram, Tik Tok, YouTube and music in general. Seems to me to be all about pornography and sex.

It's all about showing how your body looks hot or some bs like that, especially considering how looks are temporary and we lose it by aging. It all turns to dust in the end of the day. Why put so much importance on that.

Agree, tried installing Tik Tok a year ago to see what it's all about, and it's mostly just a bunch of internet thots promoting their onlyfans accounts. It's so sexual it's ridiculous especially when considering it's mostly for kids and teens. These kids today, there is gonna be nothing left by the time they reach maturity, they already have it all with just a flick of a thumb. What that does to a young mind it's scary to even think about. When I was a kid, we had a nudy magazine hidden in the attic with glued pages, that was it.

Yeah. I'm not particularly prudish about sex or pornography. What I do find concerning and annoying is the vapid nature of what's commonly popular. It's entirely respectable to be ignorant these days. Singing your own praises, deserved or not (almost always not) is looked upon in high regard and it perplexes me. To me it was so obvious when facebook came around that most of people's instinct was to fake or polish the reality of what they posted. I can't even say I am immune to this instinct but I can say I resisted it and moved past it. I believed people I respected would see through it all too and some did but not all. Had hoped humanity overall would be the better person but honestly I'm disappointed and its only got worse from there. Snowballed infact. People are shameless in their fakery now and lie even to themselves. Hokding theirselves to unatainable expectations. Pumping all sort of shit into their bodies for a few likes and a brief illusion that they're somehow better or more desirable for it. Worryingly it does seem to make them more desirable to the people who perpetuate these things by their actions. It's an ugly horrible mess. I find a lot of these pumped up lips and arses quite unattractive. The tattoos too. I'm an artist and appreciate good art (tattoos included) but in their attempts to be unique they're counter productive as they're all doing it. Nothing unique about that.


There are decent folk out there. They're just few and far between on social media and how do we find the ones that are not on social media. When neither of us are lol. Seems like you're either in or your not. Go with the masses or live a life segregated from the like minded. I guess you can find them on more niche channels. Like art sites or activity oriented social arenas that don't rotate souly around socials and self adulation.

I don't relate at all. You make a great point, beauty is fleeting. So why not enjoy and flaunt it while you can? There's nothing wrong with attraction and sex.

It has more to do with its prevalance than its existence at all. There's more to life and pop culture and social media barely reflect that. There is an issue with mostly thinking about how attractive you are and how badly you want sex all the time. That's an unbalanced person that will struggle in the end.

You just have to tap out of the mainstream and focus on yourself. Sex is an easy sell and it also keeps us consuming.

Sex and drugs are the only good parts of many peoples lives. Not everyone has the money to go on vacations, own expensive toys, and constantly eat at nice restaurants. So when two people can be close and make each other feel good, that's something positive. It's no different than the person working 80 hours a week trying to make as much money as they can to buy things, except the people have sex will hopefully have great memories, and the person working like a slave will regret it when they get too old to find someone to have sex with.

I agree, I don't think the act or existence of sex is bad. I think the prevalance and obsession about is bad if it throws you off balance in focus.

I made sure to keep my kids away from porn until they were in their teens, had a few great friends, and were social butterflies in school. Now that they are rather popular and have had a few girlfriends, I have removed all the porn blockers from our home Internet and smartphones.

I didn't grew up with porn at all either except for the rare look at a playboy/playgirl magazine at the local supermarket when I was in my teens. It worked well for me.

I know so many people that live and breathe porn. It's sad, and they live sad lives. What's worse, is many feel it's a great life to live like that. Just like junkies, they will spend hours trying to explain how great and normal it is. No thank you.
