Personally, I am not sure.
The dead internet theory is already happening. And AI agents are on the rise. There is so much AI slop on social media. And I enjoy being on SaSu because it is free from bots that have an agenda when posting on here. I couldn't imagine spending time on X could even become worse. There is much AI slop on there. And so stupid shit it is also all over TikTok.
I myself am using AI chatbots. I think though for the society, world, internet the impact is a net negative very clearly. And it doesn't look like this trend will change. For me personally I benefited thus far from using it mentally. It could easily become an addiction though and these tech companies will exploit that. Using them makes me more functional but there is a great risk in losing skills. The thing is I never was a functional individual from the beginning. I am dependent on help from so many people. When I am using AI chatbots carefully they are supplementing my support network quite well. But obviously AI shouldn't replace them. I use it most of the time to get feedback. And I give me feedback from different models. And sometimes the feedback helps me to regulate my anxiety. The instant feedback is extremely good. It also relieves the burden for my friends to a certain extent.
The internet helps me a lot to cope. My favorite platform is Youtube. And I think Youtube is doing that well because it is easier to dodge AI slop on there. It has a more traditional approach compared to other internet platfoms. I don't like shorts but they are really popular among gen Z. The internet seems to become worse in many instances. And I dislike it when AI and human content cannot be differentiated.
