I was at a dispensary today and the budtender mentioned a strain that was very "euphoric." I responded by saying I have no idea what euphoria from weed even feels like. Everything I've every tried (dozens of strains, edibles, vapes, etc) makes me horrifically anxious and depressed. The only exceptions are high CBD products so that I barely feel anything from the THC.

So, I'm wondering if among those who are normally anxious/depressed, if they tend to have positive or negative effects from it.

I live in a legal state also. Some strains like Durban Poison <sativa> make me paranoid. I can only do indica. Sativa make me freak out. Love indica and CBD strains also

I don't have access to weed where I live. Therefore, I never try it. But, if I had one, I think I would be willing to try it for escapism.

I do a lot of illicit drugs, but weed is my least favorite. I don't know why...It makes me feel different in a weird way. I just can't enjoy it.

I used to enjoy weed. I got some of those euphoric highs too. It all changed however and I just started to get insanely anxious. Haven't tried again in years anymore.

currently a regular user with pretty heavy anxiety issues. i get paranoid if i get too high, but it can usually be managed. i think the effects you get from it vary from person to person.

sativa also does this to me—i think it might be because it has more of a hallucinatory-like experience attached to it for everyone across the board.

I'm goin to let u in on a terrible discovery I made when moving to Colorado. I did not move here for the legal weed. I felt forced by circumstances. I'm originally from South Dakota and lived there a long time before the legalization of pot in Colorado.

Prior to legalization, I would buy weed from a local dealer or through friends who knew people I could get it from. I used to get mostly really high quality marijuana and I had no complaints. It was really nice fluffy, moist, kind bud that made u feel amazing.

Before legalization weed was grown for quality and actually was therapeutic and gave u the uplift in mood and u barely needed to smoke much to feel something. Well unfortunately, when the government took over marajuana, they regulate how it's grown and the strength, additives that probably shouldn't even be in it.

Now when I go buy weed from any dispensary, I experience the exact same issue that you are describing. It doesn't help me at all. I get this shitty high, anxiety, groggy, not the amazing high I used to get before legalization. Now what u find is dried weak shrub that doesn't even smell the way I remember weed smelling like.

I wish they had left weed alone. I mean it's nice that it is legal to possess but it's not the same weed that we used to be able to get prior to legalization so who cares you know? I was pretty upset when I kept trying to find the kind I used to find and all I kept finding was this weed that doesn't really make me feel so good. The edibles can be ok but it's harder to control how hard it hits u so u have to be careful with those.

After legalization in Colorado, suddenly the quality of the weed I found in my home town in South Dakota changed to this shittier quality weed I'm describing. I was pretty bummed about it.

Smoked it for 15 years. It's ruined me. Found out the hard way when you mess up and lose something more important than your addiction.

Liked it when I was a teen now its very difficult to enjoy it for many years. If I'm suicidal, anxious or depressed, which I always am, then those feelings are just intensified with a dose of paranoia, rigid body, looping thoughts. If you smoke a lot over many days you get used to it and it's possible to enjoy a bit more but it's still mostly shit effects for me. I always end up reminding myself why do I even bother smoking it anymore yet I do.

I don't understand weed. You smoke the joint, eat the twinkie and go to bed.
Sounds great.
When I've done the sequence has been:
You smoke the joint and spent the next 2 hours cleaning up your own vomit.

I miss weed I miss weed I miss it I miss it I miss it I miss it. Did I tell you I miss it? It made me a little paranoid on occasion but omg I miss it. I gave it up consciously and regret doing so daily. But still haven't partaken for a long time.

I haven't actually bothered with weed in a long time. Last time I used weed it made me paranoid. It wasn't pleasant. I actually have had a few brief times it felt like it was awesome. I'm kind of glad I broke free from ever developing a real habit though. I think a lot of hardcore users are in denial. I've also seen some people in psych wards who seemed to have developed severe psychosis from smoking weed. That's probably rare though. Watching places making it legal seems like an interesting social experiment. Just because you CAN do something doesn't always mean you should. It isn't legal where I am and I spent a good chunk of my life sticking with the "legal" alternatives. Mainly alcohol. How did that go? It was absolutely fucking miserable. I haven't drank in about 5 months and I am so grateful to be free from that nauseating crap. People can do whatever they want but in my own opinion... Living a sober life is the best way to go. The allure of using substances is not worth falling into a trap.

I don't smoke weed nor do I have the inclination to do so. I'm all for legalizing it for recreational and responsible use though, especially when it seems to be beneficial to people (recreational and medical usage), with little or no harm. There is however a need for a fine line between being responsible with it rather than abusing it and possibly causing harm to others (e.g. driving under the influence of weed, working while stoned, operating dangerous machinery while stoned, etc.).

I have tried marijuana a few times before as it's legal where I am. It did honestly make me feel calm and worry-free when I took it, but I hated the taste and smell. If I try it again, I might either try a different strand or even go with edibles; though, in the latter case, that could be a bit more dangerous for lack of a better term. Regardless if I try it again or not, I wouldn't want to make a habit out of it. As a former borderline alcoholic, I have the tendency to be addicted to whatever makes me feel "good".

It all depends on the strain. I've found anything diesel does help my depression some, and kinda uplifts me and makes me want to do stuff.

Strains like: White Diesel, NYC Diesel, etc.

Then I'll smoke heavy Indica's when I wanna watch a movie, listen to music, or read. It helps me become more engaged, because it slows my mind down.

You should stay away from anything that is mostly Sativa if you have anxiety. They always trigger my anxiety.

It's illegal where I live and I've stopped tokeing in January cuz the only person who use to get me some is now working as a news reporter (ironic). I did reach euphoria a few times. Man it's like something that can't be described. ronically you get a similar feeling if you drink allot of rum. Unfortunately you go to the bathroom allot and barely function when super drunk. Weed helps allot with my depression and anxiety. Like those thoughts still go through my mind under weed but I don't take them seriously or overthink it.
