In my readings and curiosity about what makes a person suicidal (including me) I began to read policy and data associated with groups that work in suicide prevention. I am not taking about the @fixthe26 bullies or upset affiliations that see suicidal thoughts as meaning that a person has "evil" inside them.

The US Suicide Prevention Resource Center

Has a quite fascinating and well thought out discussion section on policy recommendations to combat suicide rates. Regardless of how you feel, I think you will find that these positions are actually pretty reasonable.

From the position:

Ensure Access to Effective Mental Health and Suicide Care and Treatment

A key element of suicide prevention is ensuring that individuals with suicide risk have timely access to evidence-based treatments, suicide prevention interventions, and coordinated systems of care. Suicide prevention interventions such as safety planning and evidence-based treatments and therapies delivered by trained providers can lead to significant improvement and recovery. SPRC encourages health and behavioral health care systems to adopt the Zero Suicide framework for integrating these approaches into their systems. Reducing financial, cultural, and logistical barriers to care is another important strategy for ensuring access to effective mental health and suicide care treatment

I wonder how many fewer people would be on this website in a desperate situation if the above was fought for with legislators and policy makers rather than continuing to shout for the end of this forum.

The numbers keep going up and the causes according to "the only federally supported resource center devoted to advancing the implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention. SPRC is funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)" are not "evil websites" but lack of support for people with mental health issues. I could find nothing on this well documented and we'll resources forum of professionals that had any recommendation to take down this forum.or suicide discussion groups at SPRC. Granted that is not n indication that they support sanctioned suicide, only that their concerns for decreasing suicide don't focus solely on the @fixthe26 "health crisis". The evidence is mounting that @fixthe26 is a group of bullies sending up flares to warn us about monsters that we can't even find.

there is far too much focus on 'reduce access to means' and none of the others. resources need to be reallocated
