A shock of black sky trapped in your riptide,
calling my lonely heart out to sea.
I find it striking how you steer this ship,
your smile so disarming, yet deadly.
All I seem to do is deceive you,
my posture rigid as a bold lie,
uttering words that only touch a fraction
of what you mean to me.
Perhaps a future that never took shape
weighs heavier than the past.
So I wade through the cool waves,
for the only way out is through.
I'd rather be drowning with you
than float adrift on my own.
