Good question. Thanks for asking.

I'm trying to make sense of my increasing desire to end my life. And I want to know what the perspectives are out there. I am contemplating what will be next, what are the repercussions, etc.

There are many interesting and some loving views out there. I thought it might help others to consider and contemplate and perhaps find peace and be informed.

I grew up in a Christian church, and this would be considered taboo, but luckily, I left the church, and the way these videos describe the afterlife, this is how I wish it would be, thank you GreyMonkey for posting these.

Interesting that regardless of the slant of some of these sources that the concept of 'going to hell' is being put to bed. I raise that as I have seen a few posts from those with religious beliefs concerned about afterlife. I hold no belief but was raised in a religious home so i can empathise with their fears to a degree.

Some of the perspectives I read are on the concept of karma.

Our suffering in this life is the burning out of karma necessary to find increased peace and move towards the light either later in this life or another.

Suicide cuts short that process causing us to inevitably continue the process of resolving that karma, plus the added pain that our self-inflicted death causes on others.

Is this suffering then something to just tolerate and burn through.

I don't know.

They are all theories and beliefs, can't be proven one way or another. I guess that is the principle of faith. If it works for people in a positive way then I have no problem with it. When it becomes constrictive and makes people live in fear and guilt, then I have a problem with it.

Well said. This.Is.My.Struggle. Do I ride this crap show out to the end while my health fails and I become a burden. I'm the matriarch and everyone depends on me currently, so the roles would be reversed. I can't imagine losing my memory - my ability to recognize anyone while becoming frail and needy.

Maybe this is all part of my Karma and I accept it along with the crap I've been dealt so far.

You are trying to make sense of something that is completely nonsensical. It can be argued we are the only living organism that can intentionally end our own life. How can you make sense of that no matter what your perspective is? Then you begin to create confusion in your own mind which leads to doubts and concerns that then cloud the issue even further. Why do that to yourself? That in and of itself makes no sense.

I joined in June and since then have read numerous threads on peoples reasons for ending their own life and nothing is a definitive answer that fits all. I appreciate what your intention is and the reasons behind it and I hope you find some answers. Making it a resource, hmmm, sorry, just does not work for me. Maybe I need to reflect internally a bit more, but I prefer to keep things simple.
