It's no surprise virtually no one takes mental health seriously and are apathetic towards those who are in mental anguish. I feel really bad that she's around complete assholes.

Yeah but it took 16 police officers to get off their ass and actually do something rather than waiting for crime solutions to fall in to their laps, she should be fined, even more in my opinion, the motorists who stopped should be fined too because they were preventing the speed cameras clocking up their quota. Also we should fine the health trust for not preventing the death of her mother which seemed to be an extreme aggravating factor in this incident.
FFS I've been fined for writing this post.
Careful you might get fined for reading it.

Happy mental health awareness week UK.
Bravo, proud of you

To be fair celebs probably suffer from mental health problems just as much as the rest of us, but I bet they have better access to support (ie money, but that isn't everything, all I know is crying in a Ferrari beats crying in a dumpster).
Maybe Jeremy Kyle could do some volunteering for mental health charity, that would sort a lot of stuff out.

Maybe they should fine you for spending too much time in SS forums... instead of
going to work,
helping someone,
doing some charity,
being happy
dont smoke weed and work
doing what you said you were gonna do
do your things
do a list and do your things.... or continue with the CTB path, dandan

Maybe they should fine you for not making a choice

Maybe they should fine me for ... for not making a choice
for making the wrong choice, doing nothing, not doing what I said I was gonna do
damm...

Stories like this make me wish I had the guts to hang myself off of a highway overpass, or jump in front of a semi truck. Society refuses to accept the inevitability of certain life circumstances which drive people to end their own lives. Instead, they adamantly assert that suicide is universally attributable to mental illnesses which are always "very treatable."

This dismissive attitude will only change when people come to acknowledge that it is better to let people die in a relatively peaceful, dignified, private manner than to face the continued occurrence of brutal, horiffic, publicly visable suicides.

Maybe the only way to convince people of this fact is for suicidal individuals to continue to choose these very violent, very public means of self-annihilation.

I used to judge people who chose to end their lives by jumping off bridges, buildings, etc. But maybe this is what people need to see--that people have been killing themselves since the beginning of recorded history, an will continue to kill themselves in the future.

We can either accommodate these individuals, and respect their right to die a dignified death, or continue to face the horror of people jumping off buildings, stepping in front of trains, or blowing their brains out in public.

Sadly it's not surprising, considering that suicide used to be illegal in so many countries.

Technically she did cause a public disturbance although her mental anguish and understandable grief should have been a mitigating factor. In a way she's lucky she got off with a fine: in my country she would have found herself in a padded room in a psychiatric facility pretty quickly. Of course the fine probably won't be a deterrent in this case so it's a useless measure.

What's worse in my opinion is that what appears to be her real name was used in that article: that's naming and shaming.

I do not get her actions though: it's almost like she was asking to be involuntary committed. If you want to leave this world be smart about it and don't even consider doing it in public let alone on a busy place like that bridge.

What I tried to jump off a bridge 10 times over 6 years, out of which like 8 in my hometown and I was never fined? They took into consideration that I legit dont have control over my action sometimes because of my severe mental illness. Sometimes they were mean and decided to do breathalyzer, handcuffing or full body search to intimidate me but thats it. Thats so fucked up
Maybe cause it was a bridge over water, you cant stall traffic in water lol
Ive hear about a woman being given a restraining order from the sea after so much cost was generated with rescuing her when she threw herself into it repeatedly like 50 times

Ah yes... the UK: No surprise there I'm afraid. I cringe whenever I remember some of my friends have to live in that hellhole, which for some reason we still consider a modern country and not a tyrannical hellhole nearly as dangerous as China to be in.

Austerity as far as I am concerned is indirect murder. When I was working I got to see that on a regular basis. Mental health services now are nothing more than a hospital facade on a Hollywood lot. There is a pretence of something there but on the inside it is all empty. Ultimately it has turned into playing pass the parcel with human lives with no one wanting to take responsibility unless there is some liability involved. Various charities having taken up the government's blood money to push the narrative of work sets you free, or are silenced with threat of losing funding. It is the worst I have ever seen. The attitude is mostly a dismissive one when it comes to mainstream mental health services. The goal posts moved to mars and set on fire. The irony if you want help you are likely not in crisis enough to meet the criteria for it. The help offered outside of crisis a pathetic joke that from my perspective did more harm than good. As if you did not spontaneously go into remission after eight sessions of CBT you had waited on average seven to nine months for, then you obviously did not want to get better... Throw in closures of services that existed outside of a hospital environment that were client focused, places of refuge, support and community. What you end up with is a miserable wasteland of disappointment at best. Or at worst a pointless stay of boredom and overmedication on wards that are chronically underfunded and understaffed. Was not uncommon for minors to wind up on adult mixed wards. Even if a hospital environment is a source of stability they won't want you staying long. Turfed out as soon as possible and follow up care likely failing to deliver as people wind up lost in the shuffle of trying to get people off the books. While the crisis team tells you to take a warm bath and read a book even if your world is crumbling to psychosis. Or call the Samaritans only to be listened to but no practical solutions provided. The mentally ill of the UK have been on their own for a long time. It can only get worse as the NHS is privatised. Something I don't ever remember voting for. I could rant more but what is the point.

This was pretty much my exact experience with NHS-funded therapy. It's not like no one is raising the issue either. Plenty of attention has been drawn to the fact that people are being massively let down by mental health services in the UK, but no one seems to be doing anything about it.
