This isn't a statistic. But,how many GENUINELY good people have you guys seen?

We are taught that evil may be a few and good people are many in number through different ways..evil seems rare. But with the rise of social media and news we can see that dime a dozen real crimes are committed everyday.

Is dark triad personalities are so uncommon, why is there crime rampant. Why don't we see a day without crime?Guess these people go undetected as they are smart enough to appear normal to others

Impulsivity. The majority lacks the "action -> consequence" mechanism; they only see the action.

Well... You are a thief only if you get caught.

Criminals are not the most dangerous people - you can always avoid them.
The dangerous ones are those who disguise themselves as normal.

Reducing people down to good or evil is the problem. People are complex and cannot be put neatly into boxes and this type of mentality just leads to others being dehumanized. Even most scumbags have their good parts. This type of mentality has contributed more bad than good in our society, as it has led to prisoners being mistreated, cops getting away with brutalized others (cause they are the "good guys" and victims are all "criminals"), leads people to rationalize their shitty and abusive behaviours, harms vicitms of abuse who are unable to fit into the "perfect victim" sterotype, etc.

Being genuinely good doesn't mean not being evil, because evil is subjective and everyone is evil to some extent in the eyes of others. It just means doing good purely for the sake of doing good, rather than for purely ulterior motives (including self gratification). That aspect of us is something that is rarely given much attention because humans have a tendency to hyperfixate on the negative, but it is there in the small gestures we show everyday. Little things, like hold the door for someone, picking up some money you found on the sidewalk and asking the person in front of you if it is theirs, helping someone who is disabled get on the bus, giving up your seat to someone who needs it more (e.g., the disabled, the elderly, the pregnant), etc. Genuine good gestures are usually the types of gestures that are small and that we don't think twice about. We just act on them.

Most people have aspects of them that are genuinely good. Most people have aspects of them that are just plain bad. You cannot reduce down a person into either category.

im probably some mild form of one i think most people are, and dont realise it either cause if enough people do/are something then its the norm, and society rewards bad behaviour.

Yes,you're right. We can't categorize people like into good and evil. But a lot of people lack empathy, more than we think.I am talking about crimes that harm other intentionally. These people hide in plain sight and psychologist claim that a small percent come under the dark triad. But they can't draw out all these people if they are clever enough to hide themselves and appear perfectly normal, isn't it?
