Iv'e been watching a few of these videos over the last couple of days, theyre pretty interesting. Im starting to think that as long as a method renders me unconscious as quickly as possible death should be a peaceful, calm and almost pleasurable experience. It's easy to assume that certain methods like hanging are painful and traumatic when you watch videos of people dying in those ways but it's impossible to know whats going on in the persons head at the time. Kinda comforting.

Clinically death just means that your heart stopped working.

No one that has really dead (brain dead) has come back from that.

All these "tales of life out of the body" "and an 'interior peace' with 'lights and santaclaus'" are provoked by chemicals in the brain, therefore you are not dead, your brain is working like a charm! lol

Hence the 'died',my point is the bit before you are actually brain dead sounds nice.

They really need to update their shit, then.

Edit: biological death is supposed to set in after clinical death. But even that doesn't seem to be a complete, irreversible brain death.

As cute as some of these stories are nobody knows what the afterlife looks like except the ones who are truly dead-dead. Still I would love know what people who haven't been exposed to any type of religion see during a near death experience.

Its a good term in medical environments, clinically death means that it can be reversed thanks to drugs and procedural techniques

There's a couple in there about hanging. People describe a few seconds of panic, suffocation and then a whole lot of total and utter nothingness.

Apparently when the brain stops receiving oxigen and feels like its starting to get damaged it goes overdrive with electrical signals, in a way it appears to be shaking everything to make your body respond. Specially the visual correx is overstimulated, wich apparently result in watching lights and visions even if your eyes are closed.

its all a very good evolutive system to try to keep you alive.

It was like I was reborn again, like a caterpillar emerging from his cocoon to become a butterfly. The light was warm like an angel bathing me in their wings and lifted me from the pain and suffering that had consumed me. He paraded me around the gallery of all the people who had died before me, telling me that it's not too late to go back and turn things around, and make life better for myself and others. I even saw my great-great-great-great Grandma, whom I only saw in pictures, tell me that I need to live and speak about greatness to others and that God heals all................................

Yeah, I didn't get any of that shit, it was just darkness and BAM, light turned on and I was staring at a nurse who was gonna check my arterial blood gas.

If you actually listen to them a vast majority of them just say it was a peaceful nothingness. Only a handful talk about being hugged by aliens filled with love or being serenaded by John Lennon while floating on a rainbow.

I was in a coma for 2 days and to tell you the truth, my brain was just shut down. I remember just waking up. Nothing else.
I wonder if these people who describe these experiences were simply dreaming because their brains were not totally dead.

Yeah, that seems to be common with people who were clinically dead, although a lot of these are described by people with heavy doses of "feel good" drugs that they give you in ER when you have suffered trauma, or to manage heavy pain.
they also tend to vary greatly between different types of unconsciousness.

I'm sure that the process of death is not terrible, but it's impossible to know for sure since no one comes back from true brain death. And there's also the fact that the human brain is amazing at fabricating experiences where there are none, either consciously or unconsciously.
