What do you do when you've told people how you feel (abjectly suicidal) and they're really aggressively trying to force some Will To Live down your throat.... and it just isn't taking?

They see this bright future for me...not sure how to break it to them that it's not going to happen. I'm completely indifferent to living. But not willing to just sneak off and ctb while under so much scrutiny.

I would just try to explain why I think suicide is ideal for me to them, but I think it wouldn't work anyway. Regular people don't get it.

Personally I keep I quiet. The two times I've shared, the person involved has broken my trust and I've gotten into interventions with family members.

People do that for a variety of subjects, not just ctb. They have filters and don't hear the actual thing someone is saying to them. And even if they do hear it, it's about their personal response to what's being said, not the person saying it.

If someone doesn't hear me, I accept that they won't and disengage from talking about it with them.

Imo, if you try to push people to understand and accept, they have no desire to, so they'll fight it, they'll fight you, they'll define you, they'll explain yourself to you, they'll try to control you or get you under control such as in psych ward, they'll abandon you...whatever will get you to stop saying it and trying to make them accept what it is that they can't or won't. If you can, they'll finally accept, but they still won't understand. They'll likely have their own story about why you did it, since they couldn't accept what you told them in the first place. It's less crazy-making to accept them as they are and work with it for your own peace and well-being rather than against it.

i feel the same, so at this point i try my best not to mention it even though most people know i'm suicidal. if i don't mention it, hopefully they'll forget to try and force some positivity onto me.

I can't talk to anyone about my suicidal thoughts.
  • My family threatens to send me back to the psych ward if I even hint at it.
  • My few friends look at me weird if I talk about my mental health.
  • I told my therapist and she forced me to go to the ER.
  • I texted a suicide hotline and they sent the cops to my home.

I hate it. I'm glad I can at least talk about it here
