Discussion 'Pento'barbital rather than 'Pheno'barbital

Hi all - I have seen these two names used interchangably:
'Pento'barbital AND 'Pheno'barbital but I am under the belief they are two different things, one being the Generic Name for the Branded product called:Nembutal: pentobarbital. And then you have phenobarbital which is actually a whole different class of drugs but that has on occasion been associated with fatal overdose-so could potentially be used as a method. But would you say it is fair to say that a Pentobarbital (I.e. Nembutal) is likely to be a much better method??

They're both in the same family of drugs "Barbituates" however pentobarbital is faster acting I believe.

I can't remember if it was secobarbital or phenobarbital that was also reliably lethal but took a longer duration to cause death. Hopefully someone can clarify

Secobarbital is as lethal as Nembutal, but it's cost is driving it out of the market. Phenobarbital is less reliable and requires a large quantity and a lot of other stuff to be lethal.
