Peaceful Pill: not allowed for young people?

Besides legal liability, I don't understand why young people, especially with a history of depression, are not allowed to buy the Peaceful Pill Handbook or join the forums. Mental suffering is real, just like physical suffering. A 23 year old with extremely severe depression can be in much more pain than an 80 year old with cancer.

I pirated the book and I found the sections on young people to be infuriating. I'm too exhausted to put a lot of thought into this post, but I just think Nitschke and Stewart are so wrong to the point it's blatantly unethical.

I've been heavily craving death lately, but I have a really low pain tolerance and low endurance levels, so I want a painless drug overdose. There are no options for me. Countless times I've fantasized about a peaceful overdose on N. I get a sense of euphoria when I think about it. But I don't have any options. Our government did this on purpose. They want as many obedient slaves as possible. I HATE the government.

Hopefully this post does not violate any rules and thank you to the mods for letting me join this forum. I really resonate with the people here.

I assume because of the idea younger people haven't lived long enough to know that they for sure want to go out that way but older people do. Older people have more clarity and maturity in their decisions, younger people's decisions tend to be more impulsive, yadda yadda. Not exactly incorrect but yeah, I think anyone 18+ should be allowed access to these kinds of things. Anyone below, definitely way too young to make that kind of decision even if they end up in a body bag the same way when they're older.

It's just so wrong to only restrict the PPH to older people, in fact it's disgusting. Those who want to gatekeep suicide are clearly thinking irrationally, like death is the most normal and expected thing ever and it makes sense not wishing to delay our inevitable fate. I think that it's preferable to leave this world at a younger age as the less years spent here the more suffering that would inevitably be prevented. But yes, I also really hate this prison like society that does everything to make suicide as difficult for us as possible. Existing feels like a punishment and we all have to pay the price all because of the decision of others to selfishly and unfairly procreate. To me it's so awful how methods as ideal and peaceful as N exist yet we are not allowed them.

You must bear in mind that each country has its own legislation on this matter and that, for example, facilitating access to PPeH can lead to quite severe prison sentences...

I've been looking at the Spanish legislation today. See what the Penal Code says:

Article 143 bis.
The distribution or public dissemination through the Internet, telephone or any other information or communication technology of content specifically intended to promote, encourage or incite the suicide of minors or persons with disabilities in need of special protection shall be punishable by imprisonment for a term of one to four years.
The judicial authorities will order the adoption of the necessary measures for the removal of the contents referred to in the previous paragraph, for the interruption of the services that predominantly offer such contents or for the blocking of both when they are located abroad.

Heu de tenir en compte que cada país te la seva legislació al respecte i que per exemple, facilitar l'accés del PPeH pot comportar penes de presó bastant severes...

Es que avuí me estat mirant la legislació espanyola. Mireu que diu el Codi Penal:

Artículo 143 bis.
La distribución o difusión pública a través de Internet, del teléfono o de cualquier otra tecnología de la información o de la comunicación de contenidos específicamente destinados a promover, fomentar o incitar al suicidio de personas menores de edad o personas con discapacidad necesitadas de especial protección será castigada con la pena de prisión de uno a cuatro años.
Las autoridades judiciales ordenarán la adopción de las medidas necesarias para la retirada de los contenidos a los que se refiere el párrafo anterior, para la interrupción de los servicios que ofrezcan predominantemente dichos contenidos o para el bloqueo de unos y otros cuando radiquen en el extranjero.

They could avoid associating themselves with youth suicide while still taking the suffering of young adults and mentally ill people seriously.

They don't just avoid legal liability in their book. They take it to the extreme and claim that young adults and mentally ill people shouldn't have the right to suicide, ever.

Not quite. The big quote on their webpage says, 'At Exit, we believe that it is a fundamental human right for every adult of sound mind, to be able to plan for the end of their life in a way that is reliable, peaceful & at a time of their choosing.'

The main case study that they reference was a 30 year old woman named Angelique Flowers. Granted, her situation related to terminal illness and the law has since changed in most states to permit voluntary euthanasia under those circumstances.

Marketing their material towards senior citizens cleanly sidesteps engaging with the messy debate around how to handle the complicated nuances of suicide and youth mental health. As a political lobby group, this makes perfect sense for the time being. It's not like their material is not readily available, or anyone needs the seal of approval of Exit to make their own choices.

Well, a few months later and I can honestly say I don't feel the same way anymore. I decided suicide would be too painful. My life has been improving. I think our government has problems but some government employees are good.

Not only do I feel like they are gatekeeping suicide by being only 50+, I find it really disgusting that they have a yearly membership fee as if this was an Amazon Prime thing. The one time fee is $1000, so that's about 10 years at their current yearly fee of $100. Truly, they are profiting off our suffering.
