Help Peaceful methods were once available

There have been people who died with 100 barbiturate tablets and a few glasses of whiskey to swallow. This was a peaceful death in your bed, perhaps watching your favorite movie. Is it no longer possible now? What barbiturates were they taking in the 1980s? Are they nowhere to be found now?
