Partial suspension - padding

What do you use for padding, and also how thick should the padding be? I'm unsure of what to use. I was thinking about cutting a soft piece of clothing or a satin-ey piece of clothing, but am unsure. I have read of towels being used, but mine are rough and a bit scratchy. I plan on using a necktie, which seems sturdy, for my rope.

With a necktie padding will do nothing for you. It will just make it harder.

I think it's only for if you use a rope because it can be painful.
