partial hanging questions

Hello everyone.
For a few days I have decided that my cbt method will be partial hanging, since it seems to be the only method I have at hand, I have also read that it is practically painless and quite simple to apply (if it does right). To all this I would like to ask you a couple of questions.
What kind of knot works best? Is the slip knot the best?
Would it be the same and effective to use a tie instead of a rope?
