Damn never heard of that. I don't really care about nazis but there were prob some regular people caught up in that too. Maybe they were young and believed bad stuff gonna happen to them and maybe they could even be right. Never looked into to what extent Red Army attrocities happened in wake of their advance but I'm sure they didn't come to be friends.

German soldiers had already left the town. It was mostly traumatized civilians fearing even more torture and rape by the soviet army

I never knew that Red Army is THAT massively atrocious, I've only heard of the atrocitiesthe Japanese did (perhaps because of my region); a thousand is not a small number, for a thousand people to collectively kill themselves to avoid them is telling a lot...

Always have been.
The Soviets didn't have the orders the Nazis had, they would've been as brutal as the Japanese.

Umm you know the Americans did the same shit? Read Hellstorm by Thomas Goodrich, or Savitri Devi's memoir Gold in the Furnace.

Also, the Germans did deserve it because they invaded Russia while already being rich. It's like a rich fuck trying to get even richer.

The Soviet Army didn't exterminate the Germans, didn't pay in kind, despite what the Germans had done to the Russians (genocided 30 mil Russians). And now the Germans are preparing to invade Russia AGAIN. That's how they pay you for kindness. Means you have to crush the head of the snake when you can, or it will bite again.

The far-left thinks that these people deserved to die because they were on the "wrong side". They admire the Red Army and Stalin.

To be honest, I have quite many far-left friends and none of them actually admires the Red Army and Stalin. I know some leftists who probably do it though.
