One of the common arguments made by pro lifers is that the odds of you being born are so infinintely small that it is practically a miracle that you were born and so you should be grateful for being born.

And I say to that: yes they were infinintely small , and???.
Doesn't change anything.
Doesn't change the fact that right now my life is a nightmare and cause me suffering becauae I am going to be poor and without a gf.
And I live in a shitty country.
Doesn't change any of that.

true.

Children born into abusive families or sold into child slavery should be grateful for being born too I guess.

People are so oblivious.

Yes thank you parents for forcing me into an imposition that I never wanted! Thank you for giving me wants and needs! Thank you for putting me in an environment where safety is not guaranteed but suffering and an eventual death is! You are my heroes!

With that logic every human being should be grateful for everything that happens to them and NOBODY on Earth does that. haha

granted there is no 100% safety no matter how great your parents are but it truly seems many parents deliberately weaken or put their children in harms way.

Yea, I heard that argument dozens of times. And like topic starter said, this argument doesn't change anything. My problems are not solved after that. And you what is the most funny thing about that ? Those pro-lifers are not satisfied with their lives as well ! There is always something they are not satisfied with. They keep complaining about some some other stuff, like cars, money e.t.c. What is your problem then ? Should be thankful for being born and forced into this sh*t. Yes, they don't wanna ctb, I respect their choice, but I have mine as well. One of my best friends turned to be some kind of pro-lifer. Of course he did not use that kind of argument, he just like a to judge everyone else by himself. Believe me, he did not face any sort of problems most people did. He is going fine with his job, his university e.t c of course it is easy to judge... His phrases like "you should start living" does not help at all. I did it already, 26 years ago . Guys, I hate pro-lifers. They are potentially dangerous.

Nobody needs to be born. Procreation = need for the sake of need. Want for the sake of want. And suffering for the sake of suffering. Life is objectively a negative imposition in my eyes. There are many that say they have a good life and I respect them. But that doesn't justify the machine if that makes sense. It doesn't justify the fact that billions around the world are suffering, disease ridden, and/or starving to death. Life as an organism is backwards, broken, and plagued with far more friction than function.

I agree. Safety doesn't exist. It's a concept not a reality.

The slums of the world are host to some of the most pro-life people on the planet. Someone make sense out of that one!

I wonder though what's the point of it all. Like why do we need to exist? Alot of Christians say to glorify God. But why does God need glorifying and why do innocent people who do glorify him still suffer to such an unfair extent.

Don't go far to Haiti, which is a 3rd world country.
Take the US for example' the pinnacle of humanity, the richest country on earth.
Heck, they landed a man on the moon.
How many people aee suffering there?
Are homeless or are working poor?
How many have chronic ilnessess?
Hoe many are bullied and abused by others ?

I agree. I heard statements like that all my life. How much of an egotistical maniac would a god have to be to need to be glorified by billions of people.

well there was that one study where remote tribes have the lowest stress and depression levels. Gotta be something to it.

Maybe they are so busy working just to survive that they have tunnel vision. Maybe they don't have time to think about our imposition.

You work, you survive, you thrive. People in developing countries have only one thing in mind which is to survive and are instilled from a very early age. Also they didn't have too many distractions or social mores that can inflict or sow bad ideas in them. Then they come to America, they bring their hard work ethic with them, they excel in our schools and colleges, and brought with them high expectations and lofty goals for themselves.

When you grow up "poor" with only work in mind to survive, you don't have time to be depressed or sad or stressed out, because whatever you do will contribute to the household in some way. There's a personal reward for that.

someone told me it's cause they all have a role to play in their group to make it run properly so no one is left out they will have purpose, everyone has exercise, diet is fairly good, etc.

Yeah it's a fucked up claim by pro-lifers. I think it is an attempt to divert the focus on death and free from suffering to a bullshit tangent. It is basically an irrelevant point made to distract the argument at hand. I don't think we care if we were lucky to be born, in fact a lot of us would rather to not have existed to begin with!

As a child of a person who couldn't keep her legs shut to keep out a draft, or for that matter even look after any of the results i have always objected to having my life enforced on me just so she could find some love.

As for pro life, the last shrink that sectioned me decided to tell me that as i was still alive after a number of serious attempts that must mean that god didn't want me yet. Im not sure replying that if i don't keep trying then i won't know when I'm accepted at last helped, but by then i was screwed anyway..
